When Ash appeared in the hayloft, Skye freaked out, believing that Ash had come to attack him. Ash tries to talk to him, but they get up in a struggle that ends with Ash being pushed off the hayloft.

Thankfully, Ash being Ash, landed into a pile of hay and was completely fine but Skye was horrified about what he had done. By the time Ash climbs up the ladder again, Skye is inconsolable.

It takes a long while before Skye is able to talk again (aside from choking out apologies), and start to answer Ash's many questions. Ash finds out who the girl was, and that Skye is transgender. It's, admittedly, a lot for Ash to process but accepts Skye without a second thought. Skye cries some more because he's so relieved that he isn't losing Ash like he lost Megan.

When Skye has cried himself out, they head back to the homestead and meet up with Skye's father. They explain what had happened, and are taken inside once Skye starts to tear up again. They end up spending the rest of the day in Skye's room, with Ash telling Skye everything about what he had been up to since they last saw each other.

Oh hey, been a while since I touched upon this story thread! I've tried over the years to draw the images I see in my head for this bit, but couldn't get it right so *kicks my drawing hand* decided to draw a pallete square instead so I can finally get it out.

As you can see, Skye has an outfit change because he was still recovering from his hand injury at this point in the timeline (early-mid Sinnoh), so he isn't working. Skye is also an ugly/gross crier who cries with his eyes and nose. It ain't cute.

I actively also chose to have Ash and Skye not hug or have much physical contact here because the situation is awkward and uncomfortable, and they've barely touched prior to this, so it'd be weird for them to hug all of a sudden. But, they are sitting in a pretty cramped place and Ash is leaning his shoulder against Skye's, so it's a start.
