Description
A quick update with a piece of art from this year! WHOOO! Okay, this is Jenny the Cat from the cartoon Bucky O'Hare. This has to be one of my all time favorite characters of any cartoon.I joined the and since they ask for fanart, I thought I should try some and this isn't bad for a first try. Yes, she is a child in this when she was an adult in the cartoon but not alot is said about Jenny and her past in the cartoon.
Everyone knows she has magic as do all the females of her race but no one knows exactly where jenny comes from. She's connected to the Royal Family, either through family connections or her own loyal service and hard work, and she's a powerful warrior in her own right. Beyond that, nothing.
When I bought the DVD collection of the seiries it had notes on the characters as part of the extras. These notes explained that Jenny lost her parents at a young age but there is more to this than she knows.
Fans have speculated on this ever since but I wanted to draw something connected to this.
So I thought I'd try to create the moment Jenny was told that her parents weren't comming home again. When she first had to come to terms with things like death and parting with those you care about.
I thought the best symbol of this would be what her people call a memory stone. It displays pictures for the holder of those dear to them. Black is the colour of missing someone to many people. Combine the two and you have the black memory stone. Hence the title.
I'm really pleased with how this came out. It was annoying at first because I'm so used to adding shadow, highlights and other touches so I kept trying to add them. But in the end I think I got the 80s colouring style pretty close. (The highlights in the hair were to shut up the artist in me saying it didn't look right. Humour me.) The flower was the hardest part because when it came to inking it in I decided to change the design COMPLETELY.
But overal I really like this and I'm very happy with it.
Bucky O Hare is not mine and belongs to the lucky guys who came up with it.
Image is mine so no sticky fingers please.

Y'know, I expanded on this idea for my fanstory. After Willy is brought back as a super-ninja, Jenny discovers that HE killed her parents when she was little- or rather, he did it in a past life, as an employee of PraxCorp.
Cool, right?

I'd like to take a 55gal drum of ASS-WHUP and unload it on whoever is responsible for them tears!
Jenny is my ALL-TIME favorite character as far as the ladies go. If anyone would harm a child like this they'd find out that there is HELL to pay and I'M the cash register!
XD

I'm with you there. Jenny is possibly the best female role model (I think) to come out of the 80s. She was tough, a character in her own right (rare for the time) and smart! She's one of my very favorite characters which I why I tried drawing her first.
Don't worry, she may have lost her parents but she's going to make them proud!

The black stone is the last reminder of her parents who have been killed. The stone is something called a memory stone which shows images. Sort of like an iPhone's photo album. This is currently being explained to Jenny. Hence the traumer.

attention: do not use a small kitty to get rid of those annoying blackheads.
... sorry I had to--this is very cute! A little shadow under cat would have been nice but other then that--nice job!

I'll look into trying that and updating this when I get the chance. I think I avoid it because the background is just meh. It isn't even fail but I honestly couldn't think where I could set this scene so I chickened out. -_-
And blackheads should only be removed with sandpaper and glue.

If you don't exfoliate you'll get spots invading.
Have you looked up next month's film list?

You wouldn't like to see Star Trek or Monsters vs Aliens again?
If we do have a meal we can work out when to go to the movies for the summer releaces next month. There's UP by Pixar, I think the new Transformers is out next month (maybe it will have the theme song), Prince of Persa and Cally says she might want to see G-Force. (See Youtube for the trailer.)

I googled G-force...
....
SHAME ON YOU BOTH.
Go boil your heads in shame.
Bad, bad Cally.

I know. To be fair, Cally hasn't seen the trailer, I just explained it to her.
As for me, it was at the start of Monsters vs. Aliens and it was like watching a train wreck. No matter how bad it got, no matter how painful, twisted and utterly, utterly wrong it got, you just can't look away.
To this day, my mother and I have yet to come up with as much as the BEGINNING of a sentence that could be used for that movie. It would probably involve at least 90 new words for absolute brain rotting garbage though.

No worries. I'm just unclear where we would go. It's going to be a bit late for shopping which leaves a meal or bowling. Any thoughts on either?

Late? Cally has wed off remember?
Also Zoe and I have plan, I didn't see her until yesterday so I couldn't get back to you right away.
Plan is, meet at the Teabar--which is me and Zoe's favorite (cheap!) Chinese snack bar (they serve English food too) in Portsmouth--I'll give you directions--its really easy to find--at 11-12ish. We love this place, the servings are huge and SO GOOD!
Then, we walk up to Gunwharf--we can go through the park if we have time--and then go to cinema to see film.
Film times don't change until thursday, so must look into that. We are hoping to see Monsters vs Aliens, because nobody has seen that one yet.

Thanks! ^_^ I wanted the bright colour of the 80s cartoons but my scanner tends to dull colours. I think she looks alot closer to the cartoon because of the computer colours. All 80s explotion of happy candy colours.
