Yes, I am a Shadow/Amy fan. I confess.

Okay, this is a bit of self gratification for me so I won't blame anyone for ignoring this. So a few pointers on what's happening and then we can all move on.

I came up with this idea while I was in Norway. Lilliehammer was the site of 1994 Winter Olympics and they want you to know it. Everywhere we went we saw signs and statues about the event.

Since I was still upset with my family for mocking me when I went down due to a patch of ice and then staying down because said ice smashed my knee, making it very painful to move, I started to sketch for some peace and therapy.

This came to me mid way through my sketch diary. A short comic about Shadow and Amy at the Olympic games. There is more to follow but I thought this was a sweet way to start it off.

Firstly, this is all done on the same page so if the words seem squashed it's because I was focusing more on the character design than the writing.

I know that Amy is wearing the wrong outfit but I did this without a refrence so there are quite a few mistakes in terms of character design. The other reason she's in a blue outfit is I just couldn't see a pink hedgehog wearing a pink tracksuit that's pratically the same shade she is. Besides, she's a Sonic fan girl at this point so she was always going to wear the colours of the guy she's supporting.

Shadow is a pain in the neck to draw. I hate his quills sooooo much. I cheated a bit with this by using a scarf to cover most of them. Mind you, Amy doesn't turn out well in this either. I especailly hate her face in the last pannel. She's just not cute! Which is agravating as that's what I was really after for this.

However, I've been using this as a means to practice a couple of things. The first is how diffrent characters will affect each other. So, for example, Shadow is taller than Amy by a bit. Trying to make this clear while having them on the same level was tough. I've also started working on characters reacting to each other when they hug one another. The main reason why I let Amy's face slide was because I'd managed to get Shadow's face right after the third try and I really didn't want to try and get the pose and relative face height right again.

And this is still on my cheep sketch book, hence the gritty appearence of the image.

The background is an experiment. I'm seeing how just adding colour in the shape of the scenery works with lined foregrounds so let me know if this works or not.
