There is a Movie adaption of the first Volume/1st 3 books called "The Five Star Stories", and while the animation is great, the FSS story is not known for good story telling nor character development and it's a VERY obtuse story, and the movie adds and removes some content from the original Manga. But, I'd still watch it anyway if they made a series of it.
If anything, I'd read the manga first, and THEN see the movie cause the manga is by far a more enjoyable format for this series.

HA! INDEED, FSS had some straight up wack names... Beauty Peel... Hind Kill, Decors Wessemel, Chrome Ballance, Jabo Beat, Quo'n Hashu, Lizard something-or-rather... The list goes OOOoooon and OOOOOOOonn... Hmm... I'm surprised I've forgotten so many names... 'Been doing less reading and more Game-Dev work. I think the only thing I've read this year was the Akira Manga! 8D

I'm starting to enjoy it and think that this manga should be a full-fledged anime like how Jojo's Bizarre Adventure was made into an anime and this and Pokemon Adventures/Special should be turned into an anime pretty well.

Yes, FSS styled mechs are accepted. If it's Ornate, Feminine, Cultural, or anything like that it's accepted. It doesn't have to be super perfect or professional, as long as it abides by the guidelines.
Yes, FSS would be a good anime, but the series hasn't been finished for many speculative reasons. However Nagano (the Author, designer) seems to be writing again because his site is announcing "FSS Reloaded" so either he's fixing/redoing the story or he's finally finishing it. FSS is very Obtuse though... And there are scene's in there that seem to exist just to exist, or scenes that are excessively cruel. I wouldn't call it the best anime story at all, it has potential, but it goes off in an different directions than most stories would take. Plus, many of the MH's would have to be redesigned like some were in the Movie because of their complexity. Also... Not too many people care about the story anymore, people are mostly interested in the MH models.

Hmmm..funny thing is that Mamoru Nagano made FSS to combat Tomino's L-Gaim which Nagano also did the mecha designs for this anime (which is gonna be uploaded weekly on youtube like a Saturday morning cartoon by this guy named mitamaking2) and said that Tomino's L-gaim was missing something which he did not explain what L-gaim was lacking.
Guess good potential isn't always executed well like Dragonball Z by Akira Toriyama for example.
Moral of the story is nothing is perfect but if an aspect of that something works,I guess it works. Maybe Nagano just wasn't in the groove or there is something I'm missing. Nagano tried to give some of the characters some backstory which is..good but its really supposed to be its own manga series before FSS starts if its gonna be long in my opinion.
I'm gonna watch L-gaim and then read FSS,then compare both whether or not Tomino or Nagano's versions of what they think this spectacular and interesting universe (L-gaim and FSS takes place in the same universe) is better in terms of consistency.

Yes. Nagano is the Mecha designer and creator of the character designs. He didn't like how the characters were written in FSS so he essentially rewrote L.Gaim and redesigned the mecha and then later on developed FSS into something that deviated from L.Gaims story (from what I've heard from other sources; ik... I need to watch it.) Believe it or not, even Zeta Gundams Qubeley (a Nagano design) gets remade in FSS, but, I'll let you continue reading the story to find it. So far, the Qubeley is the only other Nagano MS that is used in FSS aside from The Knight of Gold which becomes the Hyaku Shiki; (erm, the Shiki theory is my own, I see resemblance so I'm guessing.
Story writing is challenging, there are many theories that elude the writer if they haven't taken a Creative/Narrative Writing class, and when your Nagano's "hopped up" on who-knows-whatever you can pretty much expect the unexpectable. I for one am perfectly comfortable with a majority of the obtuseness of FSS, I do think that some of the violence and abuse to women gets a little savage, but, war never was pretty =L.
Ehh, I dunno, I think the Akira manga by Otomo was pretty damn flawless. Perfect is rare, but it's merely subjective/in the eyes of the beholder... LOL! By THAT rationality, there are FSS fans that are rabid devotees, but... I really don't wanna meet them in person. Not because I can design FSS mechs, but because they'd be scary fanatics O_O.

Qubeley?!! Seriously? Man,no wonder it stands out from most of the crowd of Mobile suits but Zeta Gundam was made during L-Gaim's introduction so it made sense that Nagano would help Tomino into making Haman's mobile suit unique in every way and it well deserved it. I do have a pic of Knight of Gold and Hyaku Shiki I can recall it and both do look the same but Hyaku-Shiki Kai Full Armor came close to KOG's resemblance and that Mobile suit was from the MSV line so it could count I guess in my eyes.
Yeah,I've been to that class before and I now realize what I was doing wrong ever since I made my fan fics so I hope to join another and Woman abuse? Like Z Gundam did? Damn,I can't wait to read the manga and see how savage these guys are. I hope Amaterasu isn't that barbaric seeing how he's 'kinda of a good friend I could rely on in school' kinda guy.
(Akira? Hmmm,need to read or watch it someday.) Well it's not best to criticize them but I hope to troll the Final Fantasy,Bleach and Naruto fans and showing the legitimate proof as to why their so called heroes were always sissified in an extent. Those fans are much more cunning compared to FSS fans but yeah,fans be fans.

Ahhh, that's because the 'Shiki Kai is re-designed by Kazumi Fujita (who designed the Zeta Gundam and most of the other suits from Z Gundam), aaaaand, Kunio Okawara designed the 'Shiki Kai Full Armor!It's the 'Shiki normal type that Mamoru designed, and Fujita did the cleaning up on the design.
Yea, I've heard Z Gundam being pretty gnarly to the women, I haven't finished watching it though cause I've been busy in the art/ Game-Dev world. But... I dunno... Nagano goes to places and scenes that really question the story writing.
Heh... Amatersu... What book # are you reading? Sadly, there are FSS books that haven't been published in english. Some have been scanned and translated by fans, though last time I got the download, it was incomplete.

mmm... i really don't consider Sopp a man... I've very accepting towards gays, trans-genders and the-like, but... Sopp: looks like a girl, acts like a girl, is attracted to girls, (but not guys)... even though "his" bodys' anatomy says otherwise. I know the whole background story of this character, but even so, in my eyes Sopp is a lesbian, even though "she" has a different body.
(and yes, i've seen the animated movie, and cringed slightly when i heard his voice.) Luckily when i'm reading the story, Sopps voice matches "his" face, lol. People would call this ignorance, prejudice, but, to be fair, the FSS story is VERY obtuse, and again, I'm fine with gays, trans-genders, and i have several whom are very good friends of mine. And i know that there are people who are born with the incorrect genitals, so i suppose, it's anyones guess and preference at this point.
But, for me, it all boils down to personality, not the anatomy. Sopp ACTS like a girl, both in body language and when "he/she" speaks. I'm fine saying the character is a guy, but i also like saying he IS a woman for obvious reasons. I suppose this would make him tri-sexual... cause I know in the story he's of both sexes, (though not anatomically.)

for the longest, i though Sopp was blonde cause Nagano never shaded the hair in the Manga, and comparing the colored version with the blk/wht version felt inconsistant.
