Perched high above Spiderman eyed a civilian female being beaten down by the Blue Devil, a perp notorious for gassing and then manhandling Wonder Woman. One hand ready for web action he leapt down, carefully somersaulting and angling his descent to minimize any chance of injuring the civilian. The Blue Devil was gripping her by the arm, while smashing her head into the pavement with his other hand. The first order of business, Spiderman joked to himself, is to separate the boys from the girls. He knew better than to blurt one of his wisecracks aloud when a concern for stealth was paramount.

Landing directly behind the azure-clad villain with hardly a sound Spidey grabbed each of his shoulders. His fingers pinched down with incredibly pressure. The Blue Devil screamed in pain as he involuntarily let go of the woman. In a blur he was tossed face-first into the wall behind him, where he collapsed in a heap. Confident that the Blue Devil was either knocked out or too dazed to flee, the webslinger's attention turned to the woman who lay prone and still. Gently he turned her over, saw some mechanism strapped to her waist, and then looked into her unmoving eyes. "At least you won't get hurt," he quipped.
