Well I bet the blue paint made him even more puffed up in the smokebox based of the Reverends description of the engines fictional portrayal.

Unlike the others in Stepney's list Awdry is rather coy about using pronouns for Bluebell & Primrose butΒ I take it that they are 'females' myself. Still though I agree between being christened, being given blue paint and a coach to match certainly would of made Primrose a bit big for her wheelsΒ Β

Well lambing is almost over now so I won't be tethered to the farm for a while at least. I'm actually trying to model several Stroudley coaches as early Wellsworth & Suddery coaches in the TV red style for my layout, so it would be handy to see them in the flesh sooner rather than later. I'll check up to see what engines might be running on the upcoming special events. Cheers.

Thanks Β Β The artist of the original painting is Mathew Cousins who did a few of these Bluebell Railway paintings and I really like his style. The only thing I really did to anthropomorphise Bluebell was to remove the door hinges and add some rivets etc, which then allowed the face to be added. The railway isn't a million miles aways from me so I really must to and see it in the flesh either this year or the next. Β
