Did you really draw and paint that? I don’t think it’s photoshopped from RWS illustration like your other pics but I think it look traced from RWS illustration

No, like everything else in my main gallery to date it's merely an edit through Word Document for layering all the cropped images, Preview for lining and taking the initial screenshots and finally Pixelmator for manipulating it into a finished upload. The original painting 'Pacific class engine Windsor Lad' was painted by R M Clark and struck by how similar the 1950 image was to Dalby and Kenny's pallet knew I could turn it into a RWSesque illustration.

Lastly the face is from The Three Railway Engines, but mirrored and edited slightly.

This looks like an illustration taken straight from the books, and it warms my heart in a way only those illustrations can. This is fantastic, mate

Thank you, I also love the 'missing instalment' quality to it When I sawΒ R M Clark'sΒ original was struck by how Dalby/Kenny it looked and just had to buy a copy for Awdryfication.

Yes, that's definitely a Gordon picture for yah. Like I know in your opinion you consider him the main star of the North Western fleet in the eyes of the Reverend W. Awdry. Which I'll admit that when you put too much focus on a "sugar coated (somewhat) kind personality" Thomas and a saddle tank Percy after the Ringo Star episodes, you have a TV series characterization that is allot more one sided than the jealous entitled grump that did have some remorseful moments which started out as a foil to Edward in the first book of the series canon. Yeah, one of the nice things of the internet is that people who grew up in the United States like myself along with other countries can listen and watch fan works that represent the character personalities of Thomas, Henry, Gordon, and Percy in allot more honest fashion than the "Mickey Moused" personifications given to them the further the Awdry family's vision was abandoned. Yeah it's a shame that when Britt Allcroft produced Shining Time Station. She wanted the world of Sodor to conform to the premise of that show than use the half hour format show to give the Anglo American public a clearer eye of the Awdry family's vision with US VHS episode releases being package in the order of the stories continuity wise than the Ringo Star UK and Australia tapes due to the greater pre internet production time make up gap for foreign distribution, but the past is the past.

Not so much the star in terms of the RWS but the NWR's crown and jewel, plus also being their poster boy (always liked the Christopher annual line about Hatt secretly wishing he had a second Gordon).
I know what you mean about the TV series quickly becoming dominated by certain characters though and on top some becoming mere parodies such as 'Jeremy Clarkson' Gordon, this is why the RWS offered a much richer stage for potentialities without having to go far beyond its borders. Β
As with most Brits I never knew anything about Shining Time until the movie so that was something of a shock, tried to erase the whole thing from memory but it still lingers Ultimately I can't hate Britt for what the show turned into though as if nothing else seasons 1-4 did bring Sodor to life in a way that the respectably popular books could not and they'll never be anything like it or TUGS now in this now CGI dominated era, the 80s-90s really was a great time for kids entertainment
Also yes, without the internet I don't think I would of ever got back into 'Thomas' as like minded people and the hidden lore of Sodor would of remained under my radar.
CheersΒ

Considering the Red express coaches, and the early Blood & Custard used by BR plus the early Express Blue, what else could this be? Gordon speeding to Barrow or TidmouthΒ with the Wild Nor'Wester! Fricking brilliant!

I really do need to do a brown coach edit at some point for an in-house express but the BR period this is from perfectly suited my wish of doing a proper post-Crewe Gordon at last Generally i'm not a fan of the BR period but the application of 'blood' on their coaches was one of their finer decisions in my opinion and beside the less pleasing 'custard' half it's also a happy match of the show

Yiiiii! While I love the brown express coaches from the books, I grew up around the TV series. So this is pure nostalgia mix for me!

Cheers Ben Knew this one had potential as it's got that old school advisement department quality to it. Don't normally use Dalby faces but his works well here, perhaps not surprisingly as both were cooked up almost at the same time. For all his flaws it would be interesting to see an alternative universe where he stayed on as The Railway Series artist as he did make some cracking contributions.

Yes his illustrations were not bad but technical accuracy wasn't brilliant.
However the colours he used certainly were vivid just what you want to grab a child's imagination

Noooo, like everything in my gallery it's merely an edit. The original 'Pacific class engine Windsor Lad' was painted byΒ R M Clark in 1950 or thereabouts.
