Yeah the GNR really had swagger, would love to own a proper Emily model in G one day.Β

Just like them and I prefer to use less recognisable faces for non-canon engines/non debuted classes.

I do enjoy word play but I can't take credit as this was originally called 'Ems and Friends', Despicme95 gave me the idea for the change.

Were you not making a play of the 21st season ep title? Either way I wouldn't mind changing the title to that if you don't mind.
Just for you to know I don't usually photoshop the TV universe so this would be a RWS type equivalent of a her (or one of her sisters perhaps) during the GNR years before being scrapped.Β

You got it Belle though......I haven't really seen her on the screen much so hadn't actually thought of using her face before, will keep it in mind for an oddball class character as there are not that many female faces to adapt. Cheers Β Β

Is this Emily back when she worked on the LNER?

SleeperAgent1 In reply to ESLM-Studios [2016-08-22 23:54:32 +0000 UTC]
Not quite as these engines were all retired and scrapped before the grouping, its just a GNR stand alone piece rather than anything to do with the books/show as such.Β

You like it then?Β Β Replying to your above post as well i've seen the vid now. Really the time period spent in the shed is too much of a stretch to be believable but a number of preserved engines do have pretty contrived histories. B12 No61572 and Super D No49395 are good examples as they were in fact saved from BR inspectors and withdrawal orders numerous times by kindly custodians, which eventually allowed them to be saved. Β
If Emily were ever to make it onto the NWR somehow I would probably retcon her as being borrowed during its formative period and then sold 'for a nominal sum'. I'm not sure if her wheel size makes her ideal for stopping trains and likewise the axel load is a bit heavy for light branch lines, but certainly the engines did have a fait bit of punch and a number of single wheelers carried on during the early LMS period thanks to sanding gears, so one could easily pull secondary service trains, especially when in their rebuilt Ivatt form ( I will be doing a domed edit sooner or later ). Β Β
On a side note I have actually paid in advance for the NRM model that is going to be released later on this year so expect to see a Stirling rolling through my developing Wellsworth layout ( if the SMP track is actually down by thenΒ Β ). Β Β

True. Personally, I actually have a theory, or headcanon if you will, about Emily being rebuilt into a modified Stirling Single. Instead of her 8-foot drivers she was built with, she was instead given drivers around 7 ft. It's probably just me, but her and Molly's wheels always looked the same size to me. That and she may possibly have extra brakes on her wheels, which explains why all of her wheels spark when she brakes now instead of just the driving wheels. A little far fetched, but I never understood why that couldn't happen, especially since LNER engines like the P1 and C9 had boosters.

Sorry for the delay with this. I had never heard of bogies brakes before but I did come across them in a book recently ( can't recall which, but i'm sure it was Edwardian period ), anyway though it would nullify a goof that I saw in a TTTE Wikia article I read awhile back ( can't remember which ep it was describing ).
Boosters are only practical on a slow crawl like the P1s might do with a long fright train but it is an interesting concept for improving Emily's traction from off a standing start or on say Gordon's hill in unfavourable conditions, not a bad idea in a world where Emily might still be operating and i've heard sanding apparatus has been reintroduced on some diesels recently to help with the threat of leaves on the line!Β Β
I do have one or two more Emily related edits planned but not for a while as i've promised to make a few request edits. Β
Anyway Cheers

Well the 2-2-2 on the left who is about to take over the Up-Express is one of Archibald Sturrock's singles from 1860 and the 2-4-0 on the far right is a Kitson works member of the E2/E1 class that were built between 1874-9 while 'Ems' is a Stirling Single of corse. Other than that the engines are blank slates as I rarely do OCs, I just liked the Jack Hill paintingΒ Β
To be honest I had high hopes for this edit, as when you have multiple locomotives you can makes a scene where the characters are bouncing off each other but despite trying many permutations and faffing about on Pixelmator I couldn't get anything to really work with the sad Emily face I wanted, so in the end settled for Millie and an edited version of Frieda. The latter is ok as she has a pretty face that suits but i'm less satisfied with the Millie one as I couldn't seem to blend it as well as I would of liked. Oh well some edits are hits while others are missesΒ Β I do have a few more of Emily planned but she and the GNR will take a back seat for now.Β Β Β Β Β Β Β

Sorry could you retype that? If you mean could this be Emily's past then yeah no reason why not.Β
I'm much more of a RWS fan than a 'Thomas' fan and I never really got into the post S4 eras but I have a soft spot for Emily due to her elegant prototype. Not really sure how she could of ended up on Sodor, as she would be pretty outdated by WW1 but i'm happy to make GNR/NRM edits of Stirlings wherever I happen to come across them and then slap an Emily face on the front Β Β Β
