Including Whiff's basis I think there's only four standard gauge bogie singles preserved as the GWR one is merely a shell (though there are currently plans to make a proper replica). The Caledonian is the only one I haven't seen in the flesh but I personally think it's less elegant than the GNR and MR ones, even in Crimson Lake

That said this engine's service record is quite an impressive swan song of the bogie single class and it's so nice that it got built on seemingly nothing more than a good publicity whim.

Aye the original Tri-ang tooling is still rearing it's head amazingly but with the GNR Single being 3D scanned and masterfully tooled recently hopefully the Caledonian and Midland survivors aren't too far behind it now, Whiff's basis at the NRM would be bonus for Thomas fans too

Me too, Ed tongue, Stepney eyes and nose along with Gord style wrinkles make for an interesting face Not sure if the original is more cropped than this expanded edit as it's from an old Meccano Magazine cover but it was by the late Laurence Bagley.
