Finally got the chance to put this together (been so busy nyaarararrrgh *flails on floor). Meet Caelius, the vampire cat familiar! The insides of his ears are like a bat's, and his neck tie is meant to resemble wings when viewed from the side.

Familiars and monsters flourish in a particular world where wizards and magic are prominent. Many come into existence after a human attaches strong emotions to a certain object. Others are powerful beings that are bent to a wizard's will and bound to their summoning spell.

Caelius is an exception as he was a vampire whose body was destroyed years ago, and was saved only by possessing the body of a cat. Considered dangerous and unpredictable, he was sealed away in a cat-sized coffin until the apprentice Matthew accidentally released him. Forging a tenuous pact with Matthew, Caelius promised to help the boy in his travels so long as he's not sealed away again.

Although stuck in a cat's body, Caelius retains his personality and is a difficult familiar to work with. Condescending, dramatic, and obsessed with grooming his side swept fur, Caelius is a vain creature indeed. His specialty in combat is causing adverse status effects and at his most powerful, causes all magic to warp and go haywire. He can breathe out floating orange bubbles that are acidic, causing burns when they come into contact with enemies. If his injuries are too great, Caelius returns to his coffin, which is strapped to the back of Matthew.

Caelius is a constant threat because of his wish to possess a human. If he can obtain a new body, all of Caelius' old and devastating powers as a vampire will return. Only Matthew's reprimands enforced by his teacher's binding spells can Caelius be held in check. Even that may not be enough...
