now I wish I had kept the forsythia roots I helped dig up out of the back yard because they would have made amazing monsters. but they were huge like the size of a sleeping cat kind of huge.
This looks like one of those critters you can only see in your paraphiral vision and only while sleepy.

its just the way my imagiantion works after reading too many fairytales. ^-^
Another peice of mine "elder cradle" is based on the german folklore that the elder tree is sacred to fairies and if you make a cradle out of it the fairies pinch your baby.Poor kids always get the nasty stuff in fairytales!

Well that is a good way to make people respect trees! All these creepy fairy tales are going to make me a good person finally. I love Nordic and Finnish folklore they're so amazing! Ahhh whats a better inspiration then mythologies...

I dont know that much Finnish. Ill have to look some up.. ,but Norse creation myth is cool. alot of celtic, russian ,chinese ,greek ,german and french. IM also interested in Inuit and oceanic tribes beliefs and stories.

Oh yes yes yes Inuit and oceanic tribes just blow me awayyyyy. I also love Australian Aborigine myths, they are very interesting. I could go on for days about the mythologies I like. hahaha. They are all so diverse but they all tell a lot of the same stories, its awesome. Joseph Campbell has some good books that elaborate on mythologies and stuff, if you ever want to do that reading you mentioned, he mentions a lot of different tribes and stuff and it could give you ideas for further research.

I dont know any austrailian myths right off hand but, I love their music and art so the stories are probably cool too.
Yeah I read Jospeh Cambells power of myth. its a good one that I think helped develop my perspective on tales and lore.. I also read a magazine called Parabola. Its pretty good depending on what the issues topic is.Some of it is spiritaul, dreams, myths it covers alot of ground.
lately Ive been trying to find out more about the story of Svan Hamnen. I thought I might sculpt a character from it.

Of course. She is the ultimate horror.. devastating, beautiful, powerful, unsimpathetic, alluring and much more. I am her creation, inspired ever by her and create only faint imitation of her art.
