Description 15" figure created 2004 difficult to see but he has cat like irises. I had such a hard time adding fur/hair to this guy!

Even though this is old as far as my skill level I figre a little crit could be interesting.

what do you sculpt in? What is the media please? I love this...exaggerated in the places right to bring him to action/liveliness.

This is kind of how I pictured Enkidu from the Epic of Gilgamesh. Well done.

For 2004 he is still brilliantly skilled! Can I ask when you first started sculpting? Seeing this I think you'd be able to sculpt a fab feral Wolverine! Hee hee! Sorry...it's because the movie is coming out and I'm excited!

But yeah...another excellent creation and so very different to the norm!

I think it was in 02.
Id be able to do a better job now. My proportions have improved and I found a glue for hair that isnt glossy!

Yup and before sculpting there was always art.

you got a little shy around the genitals it seems
like you just slapped on a roll of clay and called it done
granted in no way meant to be the focus
but it's shiny! everything else has texture, and very meticulous texture at that too. other than that well done, the fattening of the nose to create a snout like effect works very well without making him look snarly which is the way most people make a beastly face.

Naw Im not shy about genitals though your right its not really detailed much. It is a roll of clay ..with a thin sheet of clay stretched over the top almost covering the end. He's uncircumsized and since hes facing down you really dont see much but a tube.

Thanks it was difficult to show his teeth and relaxed exression without a snarl.

Our pal Wolverine, charged with feral energy, but also a surprisingly placid, contemplative expression; terrific work...

Actualy this is a commission and it was somebodys character based on Wolverine... only a cross between wolf and jungle cat.
It was a first for me and pretty challanging project.

Um. . . well, he's very uh. . . 'anatomically correct'

He strikes me more as a Neanderthal-like caveman rather than a Manbeast---though I can see it going that way too. He's definitely primitive. . .I'm not seeing 'Wolverine' here, your guy here doesn't have. . . a keen intelligence in his eyes. He's feral.

Peace Always,
the DragonLady

Sleetwealth In reply to DragonLadyhere [2009-05-01 10:44:13 +0000 UTC]

I think a neandrethal would have more browbone and a sloping facial plane. Its mostly the eyes though that are diffenrt in him. His eyes have slits like a cat and are amber. A neanderthal I think would have slight simian traits and brown eyes.

He's lightly based on Wolverine ,but not meant to duplicate him. True Wolverine is a man with beast like behavior. This is a manlike creature never having been a civilized man.

DragonLadyhere In reply to Sleetwealth [2009-05-01 20:01:12 +0000 UTC]

I can see that. He doesn't look civilized, so I think you've portrayed what you were going for.

I can't see the detail in his eyes, but I like the skin color. Don't know how you did all the hair though, DANG girl! What the heck did ya' use? Tweezers?! You've got PATIENCE! LOL.

Peace Always,
the DragonLady

The hair takes patience! I do use tweezers sometimes and toothpicks. just a very slow layering from the bottom up towards the center of the crown. when its body hair even harder. Some of his arm and leg hair is painted becasue of that. I remember having fits with this one!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonLadyhere In reply to Sleetwealth [2009-05-04 07:16:04 +0000 UTC]

LOL! I think I can understand the part about having fits---though I've not tried tackling hair just yet. (Not sure if I have that much patience just yet.) Fits or no, you did pretty good with him. Heck, he's having a better hair day than I am!

My experience with the clay is pretty limited at this juncture, lol. I'll work my way up to hair. . . later.

Peace Always,
the DragonLady
