Ya so... shit bout get real! I know I have not posted a new chapter in a while, sorry, was waiting on a friend to finish it. XD ANYWAYS, here is this one, but is anyone open to draw the next chapter cover? No points or anything, just drawing for your own fun. You interested, message me, and I'll look at your art, and if I likes it, then I will tell you what the picture should be.Chapter 5: As the black pelted tom pinned her, and had a paw raised to slash at her throat. Maplesplash kicked him off an ran out of the cave with a screech of terror, her fur on end. Breezepelt followed to the outside, and grabbed the she cat by the scruff, and hissed out in anger. Before he had a chance to do much more, a voice came from just behind them. "Let her go, or I will cut you down myself!" Breezepelt turned to see a shadow of a cat standing before him, his eyes an icy cold blue, which reminded him of his father, Crowflight, who he hated dearly. With a hiss, the tom cat stepped off of Maplesplash, and turned towards the black cat with a red spiked color and white patches.
Scourge crouched down and growled in anger, his tail lashing all the while, as they circled one another. Finally, Breezepelt jumped at Scourge, but he kicked him off, and yowled as the rouge left a deep claw mark in the dead cats shoulder. They glared at one another once more, after the smaller tom stood up, a hiss escaping his jaws. Scourge jumped towards Breezepelt, and was about to give his legendary death blow, before a streak of light orange brown jumped in front of him. "No! Stop!" Came the yowl of Maplesplash, who had saved the starving rouge who had tried to kill her.
For a moment, Scourge did not know what to do, so he stood there, watching as the terrified rouge ran off back into his cave. Maplesplash watched him, looking a little crest fallen. Suddenly, Scourge came face to face with her, anger spearing the young molly in the heart. "What is WRONG with you!?! He was about to kill you, and you told me to STOP? Are you mad?" He hissed, his muzzle now in her face.
Maplesplash took a step back before looking at her paws, her ears flattened to her flower crown. "He has two kittens, who haven't met him yet... I wouldn't want you to kill off a father, who has never met his young ones. He may have made some bad choices in the past, but that doesn't mean he can't be changed... I know the same is for you Scourge." Her bright green eyes turned to him, but his icy blue turned away.
With one last lash of his tail, he shoved her away from the cave, and snorted. "Let's go, before that kitten tries to be a lion again..." Scourge lead Maplesplash away, across Windclan territory, and back into the forest past Thunderclan. All the while, Maplesplash was silent, simply watching the translucent figure of the cat, who she had only ever seen in her dreams.
Once back to her den, Maplesplash sat down, and tilted her head, seeing the wound on Scourges shoulder. She lifted her paw, and placed it on his cut. At first, he flinched away, but he sighed gently as the wound healed, and disappeared all together. "What did you think you where doing? Trying to follow that clan traitor? Even I know that cats from the Dark Forest, living or dead, are not to be trusted. What in the name of the cities did you honestly think he would do? Apologize for taking your pray? Maybe, sit down and have a chat with you?" Scourge hissed before pulling away from the creamy brown tabby female, his tail lashing, and anger shown on his face, but a hint in his voice spelled out something more to Maplesplash.
The she cat sighed and stood up, standing in front of the angered tom. "You know every cat isn't pure evil. I know for a fact that Tigerstar had regrets for things he had done, and that his greed had taken him over in the end of his life, when you killed him, but when he was dead, he was masked by his twisted ideals and a fog of revenge clouded his mind... Bramblestar himself said that Firestar knew all along that Tigerstar was just a lost kitten, who had his destiny spelled out for him, and had no control over what he could, or couldn't do... Firestar told Bramblestar, that Tigerstar was just a tool, used by beings more powerful then Starclan to do their dirty work. To be an object or their enjoyment... But once he was dead, he was so angered by it all, he just wanted it all to end..." The she cat turned away, knowing the stories told, the legends about the leaders, so on and so forth. She didn't really know Scourge's history though, or why he had become such a cat in his living word, to be a murderer, and a power hungry tom.
She sighed softly, and sat down once more. She was about to say more, but Scourge cut her off. "He... never had the innocence of a kitten... not like I had... I was sweet, and tried to make things fair, I was I kind kitten, by my brother and sister tormented me every day because I was smaller then them! They picked on me, and told me I would be thrown in the river... I ran off, and that is where I first met that evil cat Tigerstar... though he was Tigerpaw at that time..." The black cat gritted his teeth at the memory, his eyes shut tight as anger filled his body. "I ran off to the forest, hearing about the giant cats who ate live rabbits for breakfast and sharpened their claws on old bones... I knew it was all lies, but I thought I could be strong like them, but when Tigerpaw attacked me, left this mark on my neck, and laughed at my face... I knew then and there I would be a dead cat... If not for the blue she cat with the burn on her nose and eyes like the sky, I would have been..." His memory reflected back to when Bluefur had stopped Tigerpaw from killing the little tiny kitten, and had sent him on his way.
Scourge had later found out that she had been killed by the dogs that Tigerstar had tried asking his help for, but hated the thought of even speaking to the tom, let alone helping him. The black tom still did not know who Bluestar was, or that she was the cat who saved him, but he would always remember the blue fur, and the sky blue eyes.
"After that, I ran to the city... hungry and scared... An old she cat, whose name I never learned, gave me some chicken, which also helped save my life. After that, I placed a dog tooth in my collar, told stories to the city cats, and then fooled a dog into thinking I was a monster... That instantly made me leader, even if I didn't want to be... When a cat who was starting trouble was passing through... the street cats came to me for help... so I did... the tom cat looked somewhat like Tigerstar, but his fur was pale, his eyes green, and his ears tattered... it was not him. But I pictured it was..." Scourge took a long breath, before finally sitting down.
"I killed him... I killed that tom who was harassing other cats, and treating them like mouse dung... but... I felt nothing... my heart had grown cold as ice, and I felt nothing..." He looked at Maplesplash, and squinted for a moment. His eyes, usually cold as ice, where as sharp as claws, raking down her muzzle before he said out in a hushed tone. "When it came time for me to kill Tigerstar, I felt more alive then I had been for many many moons... but that next day... when it came to the battle for the forest, the ice had melted from my heart, and I felt there was no other point to living anymore... there was nothing left for me to do... I could have killed Firestar, just like I had with Tigerstar... but I know very well he had nine lives, and taking one of them would be enough to convince my clan that I was unstoppable... When Firestar killed me... I knew that I would rest in piece... I felt light... I felt free... but suddenly, it felt as though claws had gripped onto my legs and tail, pulling me down, and my pelt grew hot as flames, and my mind filled with darkness... I woke up here... where other strays died... You know the rest..."
Scourge turned his head away, and for the very first time, a tear streaked down his cheek. The first tear since he was a tiny, new born kitten. His first tear, since the day he had met with Tigerstar. Maplesplash sat at his side, and nuzzled into his fur. He did not pull away, he did not flinch, and he did not grow angry. He leaned against her, and cried.
Later, after Scourge had finished crying, Maplesplash lead him to her nest, and laid down with him, curling up tight before she licked at his pelt. She laid her head down, and he laid his on her shoulders. Soon enough, they where asleep, and the embodiment of Scourge, faded away, and reformed back in his own nest, in his dumpster, in that grimy after life alley.
