Thanks! It turned out better than I had expected!

Well done, and bravely too!
Straight lines show how well you lay out your mesh for the materials zones, and since these aren't zigzagging all over, that say's you kept things pretty skokum and even, very well done!

Thanks! I didn't realize what a pain it could be until I started on my next skirt which is being less polite in the UV mapping space

Which program are you mapping in?

I'm doing the mapping out of blender. The bigger "issue" is that the mesh that MD generates, while very accurate, is not the most intuitive of quads. Lots of strange things happen based on the physics used to make it.

You're off in foreign land with MD, I have messed with Blender, but aside from rendering with Cycles I can't do anything with it. I still stumble UV Mapping in Hexagon, it's like I am missing something, a very basic step probably.Β
I envy your skill and rapid growth!

It's certainly been enlightening to take an object from idea to "sort of finish". Simple clothing items like this are "easier" to UV Map than other objects like characters in video game engines or something. In Blender, you can let it try to unwrap itself which is not super useful for what I've made so far. What I have learned is that you can tell it to "mark a seam" which is where it will split the object as it translates it to 2D. So in the case of a skirt, you grab a line of edges, mark it as a seam, and when you unwrap it you'd get some version of rectangle (depending on internal polygons and the such). Maybe the "marking seam" is what you're missing from Hexagaon (never tried it there, purely a short in the dark)

I just need to break down and spend more time tinkering around and trying to iron it out.Β

Thank you! I admit and acknowledge that these particular morphs don't always work for a specific pose, but they're great for standing around looking awesome
