Description
Her name, as well as the season of her surroundings, is Autumn. Just felt like doing a random portrait to cheer me up a bit after losing some of my other artwork on a corrupted hard drive.

Hehehe. Actually, I think that this colour ended up being more suitable for the image than the original hair colour. It's more harmonious this way.

Thank you so very much for all your nice comments! When I finished this one, I felt like I was finally at a place where I could start getting a bit more creative again. It was kind of a test of my technical skills that I'd been working on over the last 6 monhts, I think. Now I can work on things with a bit more meaning between commissions. Thanks again!

Thanks! I think the colors are one thing I liked the most about this one, too. It's one reason I made her blonde (not to mention that I didn't have any blondes yet) - it fit so well with the background!

Yeah, I'm still working on perfecting a way to make my method of drawing hair just a tad softer. The forehead looks too light as compared with the reference photo, or just in general? Thanks for the comment, and I agree about the eyes!

I just took a peek at the fullsize version, and it's not you. There was probably too much light hitting that side of her face in the photo. Maybe making it a more golden tone of skin, (like sunlight hitting it,) while keeping it a little lighter than the other side might help..

Yeah, I recognize that this would not be something you would find in a normal setting. She seems to have had a spotlight on her face for this photo, and you wouldn't find that out in the middle of the woods where the elves roam, I'm sure. Regardless, I liked the way it looked, so I went with it. I actually did make her skin tone a bit more golden rather than as pink as it was, but that was more just to go with the new hair color. I still personally like the lighting how it is, but I certainly understand your point.

Yeah, I really like the colors in this one, as well. I don't know why most of my others have been so darn colorful. I think a lot of it had to do with my old monitor, but some of it was just... my current mood, I guess.

My current method for hair is done in multiple layers in Photoshop. The base layer is a single color, and is just the basic outline of the hair. The next layer up is done in multiple colors with a very tiny brush... I go in and make each damn strand. That's right.

I think the prints are a ripoff. Deviantart is making money from the artists and not the other way around. I don't feel I can produce for comissions yet, though.
