This is my Holi Mandala for the Holi Mandala Contest .

That was fun!

The theme explained:

The idea was to mix typical spring elements with cosmic aspects and a few traditional mandala patterns:

In the centre is the sun, framed by a subtle starry night sky / space.

Born out of the energy of the sun coming with the longer days are different life forms we happen to see in spring:

Greening plants, flowers, butterflies – but also budding emotions like love and the fluffy cloud-like feeling you experience.

Since the entirety of spring is something very haptic, something you need to grasp first-hand, I tried to give it some kind of 3D look, elevated towards the centre / sun.

The grainy look is supposed to evoke the sparkly feels – but also pollen (the thing allergics hate ). And of course since spring is colourful, so is this mandala!

Note: This wallpaper is free to use for your own personal usage, e.g. as your desktop wallpaper.

Though please just ask before reuploading it elsewhere – I don't bite.

This has been drawn by hand with GIMP 2.10 on Xubuntu.
