It's an awesome photograph, but your title for it made me laugh; thank you for posting this!

Well, having now read your ID, I'm not sure if I should thank you for commenting but, it's nice that you have taken the trouble to comment and that you appreciated my title! It seems that during the summer the inner doors are open and the outer door closed to allow for air flow and it did just occur to me that it would take an Olympic high jumper to gain entry! You would just never want to lose your key!!

Looks like a fun entryway. Challenge accepted! I'm fine with people thanking me for commenting, but only if they are clever or genuinely enthusiastic about it. I prefer it when people thank me for faving and commenting by looking at my gallery, though. Sort of returning good for good.

The doors were fascinating. In fact the whole village was interesting and in a truly amazing location.
Usually try and look at a deviants gallery, if he/she has looked at my work - it's the least one can do!!

Yep; that's my policy, too. I think I found this deviation because of a group that you submitted it to, though. I'll look at the rest of your stuff at some point.

There are a lot of artists who I need to see the rest of their galleries. I'll do my best to remember to see the rest of your stuff.

An unusual style of door, with a gate in front.

It certainly is - apparently they are called 'Batipuertas'. This village of Candelario is the only place I have ever seen them. Thank you for commenting.

flooding?

Probably! Think they are designed to keep the doorways clear of snow as well. The village is situated right beneath a mountain, which still had snow on the peaks when we were there. When the snows melt, there must be quite a torrent of water running through the village. All the streets have little streams channelled through gutters. In the summer, apparently, inner doors are left open to allow air flow. All very clever and quite unique.

well.....maybe not..we have doors like that, well almost, on the seafront, to stop the flood tides
