Oh it was wonderfully calm. We intended making a short visit but ended up wandering around the village for over two hours. Well worth a visit.

Seems so.Β
After a very long time seeing a picture from you.
It's like coming across an old friend suddenly in the street.

That is a lovely comparison: of meeting a friend in the street. Truth is I have been struggling over the last few months. Taking photos has been difficult, balancing on crutches!! Walking around this village for so long meant that I was in quite a lot of pain for the next few days (but worth it). I am now awaiting hip replacement. I am hoping that this will mean that eventually I will really enjoy photography again. Thank you so much for noticing my absence.

get well soon.Β
You're always welcome.Β Β

Thank you for your good wishes. I have heard today that my operation should take place early in the New Year, so not too long to wait.

Sorry I am not good with German. Thank goodness for internet translation! I think you are talking about foggy weather and I imagine puycelsi may have escaped the fog; we in UK most definitely did not escape: the weather yesterday was horrible!!

Sorry and no problem to switch between our languages.
Yes, many think about winter holidays in southern regions like the birds, not as far as Africa but perhaps the province in France?

No need to apologise: it's only fair that you should be able to write in your own language, especially as there are translations available. It's just a shame that so many of those translations are not good!

Is the architure in GB similar to France/Province, remember many old Stone houses?

The architecture is varied and there are regional differences. For instance many parts of Yorkshire and an area called the Cotswolds have beautiful stone cottages. Devon has traditional thatched roofs. There are areas where there are old Tudor or Georgian houses but, there is so much house building happening now that there is a mix of ancient and modern throughout the country. I much prefer old so I rarely take photos of modern buildings.

Of corse architecture depends on time periods. I asked for the stone walls which are unique.

The big difference between our stone houses and those in France is lack of shuttered windows in the UK. Very few of our homes have shutters (not enough sun to make them necessary!!)

Arent shutters replaced by rollo? Shutters in old houses remain as deco.

We have blinds on the inside but roller blinds are becoming less popular in favour of vertical blinds but most people still have curtains. A few old houses have wooden shutters indoors.

Missing shutters make windows optical small.
