Yes, we are very lucky to have our little robins. It seems we have adopted it as our national bird.

The little inflated guy looks very self-conscious of how he looks in the morning to find his friends. Or is he looking for a wife?

smallsofthamish In reply to andersvolker [2014-04-08 08:13:42 +0000 UTC]

As though he thinks the more he puffs out his feathers, the more he will get noticed! Maybe he WAS looking for a wife. I will have to go back and see if he has found her!

andersvolker In reply to smallsofthamish [2014-04-08 17:41:28 +0000 UTC]

I always do but, this little chap was in a public Botanical Garden and obviously very used to people being around.

Perhaps the chap has more than one identity?

Perhaps. I couldn't ask ... I didn't understand a word he said!!

What a cute little bird, and he's so fat. XDĀ

smallsofthamish In reply to starsinmyteacup [2014-04-05 22:45:55 +0000 UTC]

He is isn't he. I always thought they fluffed up like that when it was cold but, it wasn't especially cold so not sure why he was so fat. Perhaps he was just a greedy little chap!!

RavenMontoya [2014-04-05 18:07:34 +0000 UTC]

Aww, little birdie! Very nice close-up! All gardens should have a robin, I think.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

smallsofthamish In reply to RavenMontoya [2014-04-05 18:18:25 +0000 UTC]

Agreed: every garden should have one! This little one I spotted in a local Botanic Garden. It just sat there in the yew hedge and posed!!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

RavenMontoya In reply to smallsofthamish [2014-04-05 18:25:47 +0000 UTC]

It's so nice when they pose. They almost never do.
I've got a few robins in the garden, but nope. They won't sit still long enough for me to take one really good picture of them.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

smallsofthamish In reply to RavenMontoya [2014-04-05 22:49:20 +0000 UTC]

No they don't sit still in our garden. Photographing them is almost impossible. Maybe this one just gets very used to people, as it is in a public garden.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

RavenMontoya In reply to smallsofthamish [2014-04-05 23:03:01 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that sounds very likely.
"My" birds are more used to cats than humans, I think, but at least that's good because the big majority of them survive just fine with all the cats around.
There's one special coal tit that likes to tease the cats. He's a very cocky little bird. He sits just out of reach and makes some sort of screeching noise at the cats. He makes it at me too sometimes when I bring out bird food. He's done it for years.

smallsofthamish In reply to RavenMontoya [2014-04-06 21:36:58 +0000 UTC]

Had forgotten about our cats!! That may explain the robin's reluctance to hang around in our garden!!
