As soon as the pups were old enough to walk without stumbling and could venture just short distances away from the main den site (monitored, of course), Dayanara began to teach her children about plants and their medicinal capabilities. The first of the pups to have a lesson was Ataw. He often seemed to complain about an upset tummy, be it from eating too much or maybe getting into something he shouldn't. The experienced healer knew the best herb for him to learn about and find on his own, as it was always abundant. Water mint would help to cure any aching bellies, now or as an adult.
