It's very easy ! Just keep up the practice . And always know that with paint you can build layers (lighter or darker tones) to render whatever it is - this works well with watercolors especially (remember work dark to lighter). Also you can paint just flat colors and then build up on it with colored pencil if you're better at detailing with that then just paint.

Ok...how do I keep the paper from warping with watercolors? I can't do the tape thing, since I don't tear out every sheet I draw on. 😕

This is sometimes hard to prevent depending upon what your doing with the paint/what kind of paper. If you're using watercolor paper it generally shouldn't warp since it's meant to hold that kind of paint. But if it does it most likely means you're using too much water. If you're using mixed media paper it's more likely to warp and fold up than on watercolor paper - but you can keep it under control pretty good. Also an alternative to watercolors is watering down your acrylic paint and do stuff in washes which also works as well.

Oh, I only use sketching paper, since I draw more then I paint. It's just lightweight paper, usually only good for, ink, pencil, and charcoal and colored pencils. So I'm guessing that I'd need watercolor paper?

I do like to use colored pencils more for my color effects, never thought of adding on top of paint. Thanks for the tips!

It works best with watercolors since when applied to the surface, it's thinner than say acrylic or oil.
