Description Been playing Witcher 3 for the first time and I've missed so much! I'm trying to avoid finishing Blood and Wine because then I'll have nothing else to do. So in my spare time I've been working on this. This is based on Witcher 3 (I dont know much about the books but I do want to start reading them.

Commentators at the time predicted the 3rd Northern-Nilfgaardian War would change the face of the continent forever. However, the actual outcome, none could've predicted with, perhaps, the exception of King Radovid V 'the Stern'. The lightning strike tactics of Emhyr var emreis failed in the swampy border region of Velen in North West Temeria. The Redanians took this opportunity to cross the Kestral Mountains and conquer the Kingdom of Kaedwen. Two weak enemies of Nilfgaard became a single greater one. With Nilfgaardian troops drowning in the no man's land of the Pontar Valley, the courtly politics and conspiring corporations of the empire began to nip at the Emperor's heels; if the war did not change its course to become more profitable for the Nilfgaardian nobility, they would end it.

During the War, the King of the Skellige Isles, Bran Tuirseach died. With Nilfgaardian warships encouraging on islander waters, and swatting away Skellige raiding ships, a new King was called upon to either join the war against The White Flame Dancing on the Barrows of his Enemies or to maintain Skellige's neutrality and build up its defenses. The moot that was called upon crowned Hjalmar 'Giantslayer' an Craite as King. Hjalmar was a fine warrior and led the war faction of the moot. He called upon Skellige's Jarls to lead a coordinated naval effort against Nilfgaard. This all happening none too soon. The Nilfgaardian fleet, led by the Emperor himself arrived in the Isles... but no battle was fought. Instead some magical anomaly occurred in the isles apparently to do with the 'Wild Hunt' if the tales are true. Whatever happened the superior Imperial Fleet left for Temeria and no invasion took place .

The Emperor returned to Vizima to a Court in crisis. Temerian and Aedirnian partisans grew bolder, Skelliger Raiders grew stronger and Novigrad had been directly annexed into the Redanian Kingdom. Not only did Radovid now control one of the biggest cities in the Known world, with its powerful banking clans and trade guilds but he also acquired the most powerful navy in the world. The emperor needed one victory to unite his court and empire or his war, and reign, would be over. The emperor decided one ambitious lightning strike would destroy the Royal Redanian fleet before its might could be used. It was a catastrophe. The Imperial Fleet was harassed by Skellige Long ships as it took off from Cidaris and by the time it reached the coast of Novigrad it was too storm-worn and depleted to even implement a strategic withdrawal. This was the final nail in Emhyr's coffin. When news reached the mainland of Nilfgaards defeat, the Emperor's own personal guard stabbed him in the chest and belly multiple times. Leaving his bleeding corpse on the stairs of Vizima's Royal Palace, the old seat of the Temerian Kings. Morvran Voorhis, a relative of Emhyr and seasoned battle commander, was declared emperor, as Emhyr's daughter, Cirilla had been proclaimed dead after years of being missing.

The conspiring aristocrats of Nilfgaard wanted peace and a new border to be declared at the Pontar, Radovid's empire to the north and "Voorhis'" to the south. Radovid would have none of this and the "liberation of the North" began. With the Novigrad fleet and the Novigrad treasury Radovid assembled a new force and smashed through the Pontar taking Vizima; the Nilfgaardian lines collapsed. The Eastern front withered away and Aedirn was "liberated". Partisans across the north rose up and every Nilfgaardian counter attack was a defeat. However, Radovid, seeking to consolidate his new lands, called for peace. The Second peace of Cintra saw all lands to the North of the Yaruga as "Radovids Empire". Nilfgaard collapsed into Civil War.

With Nordlings proclaiming Radovid as liberator of the North they were surprised to see Novigrad Witch Hunters capturing Northern partisans and executing them for "Crimes against the Crown". Soon after the War, in Novigrad, Hierarch Hamelfart of the Church of the Eternal Fire crowned Radovid and proclaimed him as "Emperor of Redania, Liberator of the North and Defender of the Faith." Soon the Novigrad Witch Hunters became the secret police of the Redanian Crown, whipping up the populace against non-humans especially sorceresses, but also removing any potential opponents and forcibly converted the Nordlings to Radovid's new faith. The Order of the Flaming Rose was restored as the official militant arm of the faith and these new knights would "protect the innocent". Killing monsters, non-human's, "Nordling seperatists" and converting the population in the process. Kovir and Poviss, who stayed neutral during the war but financed Redania's armies were blocked from trading with Redania unless they met four demands: the surrender of all sorceresses to Radovid, the recognition of the Emperor of Redania as "Protector of Kovir and Poviss", the Cessesion of the Eastern March to Redania and the allowance of witch hunters in the duel kingdom. So far these demands have not been met.

With the Redanian and human consolidation of the North, monster hunting has became a profitable trade however, Witch Hunters and Knights of the Flaming Rose are too cowardly to purge a cave of Arachnomorphs or to slay a Cockatrice. There are tales of an ashen-haired Witcheress traveling the North slaying monsters, for a price. However she doesn't seem to be a mutant, nor have Radovid's agents managed to subdue her. Even more interesting this warrior-maiden does not always take on a contract, there are tales of her befriending Dwarfs, Dopplers, Sorceresses and even Trolls...
