Description
βComfort zones are most often expanded through discomfort.β - Peter McWilliams[There are a few things I'd change about this, if only my camera hadn't died while I was shooting. One of which would have been shutter speed, to lessen the motion blur. All in all, I'm pleased with it--especially for something so spur of the moment.
Also, I think it's been at least a week since I've said I wish my hair would grow faster. I wish my hair would grow faster.]

Thank you so much! This is probably my favorite self-portrait so far.

For a spur of the moment you did a great job. Looks like you were waking from a dream, but the dream is bleeding into the real world. The photo has that kind of feel to it. Very creative. Enjoy all of your images, always a pleasure to watch.

Aw, thanks! I wanted it to look like I was emerging from the ivy wall, and yes dreamlike is a quality I was going for, as with most of my work.

Your comments *always* put a smile on my face! Thank you so much! I actually just created a print of that one and I have it here at my house--I might frame it! ^_^

Wow!
For real?
You go to print and frame this comment?
I'm really honoured that a framework with one of my comments adorns a wall of your house! And, I'm doubly happy
that my comments put a smile on your pretty face, Kindra!

Ohhhh haha I mean I created a print of the photograph "emergence." Sorry for the confusion! But I really did mean it that I love your comments. They're so flamboyant and enjoyable!

Oh!
Don't worry about that, Kindra! This little confusion has only created a spectacular comment
It has been very funny to do!
To my opinion, you have a lot of
which could adorn the walls of your home.

Ah, thank you so much! I think it's probably my favorite self-portrait--it was one of those really awkward experiences in a public setting that ended up being worth it in the long run.

Wonderfully surreal! I've always liked these kinds of pictures, where the most unexpected plane is turned into a surfacing point, e.g. a wall or a ceiling made of water.
There is indeed some motion blur in the lowest portion of your hairβit's good you acknowledged this. But a battery issue seldom leaves room for on-site improvement.
Here's the point where I would recommend always having a fresh extra battery with you, but I'm no one to say because I always go shooting with one battery.
I guess that might change with the eventual upgrade.

I would bring an extra battery if I had one... They cost fifty dollars, and I haven't been able to buy one. I'm also saving for a camera body upgrade (which, btw, is going to be a HUGE leap in gear for me).
But thank you! I am so happy with this image!

You're welcome!
Extra batteries do have some very salty prices. That's why I haven't bought one of those, either.
My upgrade's gonna be a huge one, tooβI'm planning on saying goodbye to Olympus and switching to Canon and it's 5D Mk. II full-frame goodness.

Oh man!! That's an even bigger leap than mine! The Nikon D700 is Nikon's equivalent to the Mk II, and I can't WAIT for full frame. I am trying to raise money through portrait sessions and selling prints on my Etsy right now, and my goal is to have my new camera by September.

Tinnunculus In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-07-22 19:57:14 +0000 UTC]
I have actually done some shooting with the D700, and it's a wonderful camera. My friend used to own one, and as we both like photography a lot, we made some shooting trips together using that camera. He proposed selling it to me because he's planning an upgrade to the D800, but I declined his offer because the image resolution was too low for my needs. Of course its full frame and resolution give you results of unbelievable detail, but I need more headroom when it comes to prints, so my choice to be is the 5D.

Wow, you must be printing *exceptionally* high-quality stuff because even prints coming from my D40 look good to me, haha. I've had a few people suggest I do a full switch over to Canon... I don't know, though. Debating whether or not it's really worth it...

Tinnunculus In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-07-26 19:54:05 +0000 UTC]
I don't really make that much prints, but I just want to make sure I have the capability to get a good A3 (or even A2, who knows) print with my camera, in any conditions. My current camera can produce A3 quality only in perfect conditions (and I don't get those all the time).

SmokyPixel In reply to Tinnunculus [2012-07-28 05:22:38 +0000 UTC]
Maybe I should just consider switching to the Canon Mark II rather than the D700... I'm debating heavily, and my savings is only a few weeks off from both/either.
