Description
The next ship is USS O’Bannon, DD(E)-450! After starting her months ago and running out of ideas for her outfit, I finally got the inspiration I needed to finish her up.

So, here are the notes:
-Her weapon is a potato cannon, complete with a sack of potatoes for ammo. This is a reference to the legend surrounding her which says her crew fought off a Japanese submarine by throwing potatoes; although I’m not entirely convinced that the potato thing actually happened (at least not the way it’s often told, though perhaps a few people did throw potatoes and it just didn’t make it into the official reports), it’s become so widespread that it still felt right to incorporate it in such a major way.
-Her official insignia features a clover, so I used that as the basis for her tattoo. The clovers cover her upper arm and then turn into a chain, which finally ends with an image of her radar mast (all the Fletchers have that mast incorporated into their designs somehow) and the words can do, which are also featured on her badge.
-The scars on her eyebrow represent her collision with her sister Chevalier.
-Her outfit went through several color changes: first it was white, then khaki, then white again, and finally I decided on the current color scheme as it looks the coolest.
-Those four hair puffs she has are meant to vaguely resemble a four-leaf clover, tying in with both her badge (which actually has a three-leaf clover on it) and her lucky reputation. That also fits nicely with the Irish origin of her name!
-She’s eating a potato here, but she doesn’t actually like them very much. She just snacks on them because they’re always available.
-Her medals are accurate, but they took forever to draw. I’m really not looking forward to doing that again for Iowa!
-I have no plans to draw her twin sister Nicholas any time soon, but the two are identical twins in human form.
-The title for this one comes from What’s Up Danger by Blackway and Black Caviar!
