Description
Maddox has a profile drawing now, and her pose is one of the most dynamic ones yet! I had a lot of fun with this one haha

A few notes:
-I’m really proud of how the shading on her skin turned out! Somehow it ended up looking especially good, particularly on her right hand and collarbones.
-The gray strips on her shirt now have little designs on them, fitting with my original intention (not included in the previous drawing because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with those and promptly forgot before figuring it out). Now they primarily feature torpedoes; the seven-pointed stars on the shoulder strips represent the Cherokee Nation as the shirt as a whole is inspired by Cherokee tear dresses.
-Her shoes are more sensible now, with flat, grippy soles and a more reasonable leather-to-metal ratio. The edges of the metal plates are curled outward so she doesn’t risk cutting her feet every time she puts her shoes on, although it’s probably not actually very sharp.
-Her dog tags are more organized now. The bottom one has her original name, number, and navy on one side and information like her class and type on the other, while the more visible top one features her latest number (DDG-910) and her Taiwanese name, Po Yang, with the back side of that one showing her regular radio callsign (NHHK), her tactical voice radio callsign (SINBAD), and ten little stars representing the battle stars she earned over the course of her career.
-Instead of having her original number displayed on the middle radar-screen ornament on her belt, I went with a more realistic radar look. It’s way cooler this way!
-Her gun is a Mk 22 Mod 0 “hush puppy” pistol, which was used by Navy SEALs in the Vietnam War. The gun’s name comes from its main purpose being to kill guard dogs (or human guards) before they could alert anyone to an attacker’s presence, which is ironic considering that not only does Maddox love dogs, she also has a canine-inspired appearance herself.
-She has earrings now!
-The background is meant to resemble a radar display, with three bright spots symbolizing the three (real) torpedo boats that engaged Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin.
-The title for this one is from In the Shadows by Amy Stroup!
Update 4/16/24: Updated the shading on her clothes, added some extra folds to her shirt, and removed some of the definition on her boobs.

Fun fact: Maddox apparently had a dachshund on board! The dog’s name was LB (for Long Beach, apparently) and she had her own clothes, ID card, life vest, and other such sailorly possessions.
