For some reason I'm thinking that whatever the dreadknight was during the dark age of technology, it wasn't for the military maybe for construction. No offense.

Yeah he does look vunerable but the Dreadknight itself has a protective force field and the pilot is clad in terminator armour, Can soak up a lot of firepower before he falls

While the mechanical units in the Matrix come to mind, at least this guy is encased in armour.
Impressive model though.
