  Seren was on her way home towards the nook after spending a day in town square, mainly listening to the local bard Sam play his tunes. humming her way along down the street, she looked around while walking.

  Looking into one of the many alleyways she passed, she paused when she saw a small dark figure scamper off.

"Hey." she called out, alerting the creature before it made a full bolt away from the quill. "Hey wait!" Seren exclaimed as she followed the mystery creature. the chase only lasted for a minute as the two ran into a dead end. Getting a closer look, Seren could make out that it was a boo, covered in dirt and scrapes, and what looked like blood on one of their legs.

Being backed into the corner terrified the little runeboo, it reeled back from Seren and bared teeth at the quill. Seren crouched down with a soft gaze.

  "Shh shh, it's okay." Seren reached out a claw to the boo, "I won't hurt ya." She said gently as she reached her claw out further, the boo flinched, preparing for a hit, yet perked up in surprise when instead of a harsh hit, it was met with a gentle touch on the head. It was almost as if electricity went through the two as they made contact. The boo looked up at Seren who only offered a smile. "come on little guy, I bet Ms.Alma can patch you up, and we can give ya a bath and make ya nice and clean again, you'll be good as new~"

The boo gave a slow blink at Seren before sniffing her claw and rubbing it's face against her chest. Seren couldn't help but giggle before gently picking up the Boo and continuing her way home.

"Seren, sweetheart, Where did you get that boo?"

"I found her on the street when I was coming home."

Alma let out a sigh and opened her mouth to speak but Seren beat her to it, "I know I can't keep her, but he was injured I couldn't just leave him out there, can we at least, I don't know, take care of his wounds and give him a bath? I'll bring him to Kalypso first thing tomorrow, I promise." The quill said looking at the nook-mom with a pleading gaze.

Yet another sigh escaped Alma, "I suppose it would've been worse had you left the poor thing to fend for himself out there, fine, but you have to keep your promise okay?"

Seren smiled and nodded with a determined gaze before patting the boo on the head, "Don't worry little guy, we'll get ya back in peak condition by tomorrow. you'll see." the boo in return let out a small 'kwee' in content.

So Alma and Seren put themselves to work; Seren cleaned up the boo of any dirt while Alma healed any scrapes and cuts visible. When Seren had turned in for the night, The boo slept soundly right by her side.

When morning came, Seren grabbed a few floaty fruit to eat, offering one to the runeboo before making her way to Kalypso, just as she had promised to Alma. She set the boo on her back before striding down to Kalypso's caravan.

She held her claw up to knock, only to fall short, she hesitantly looked at the boo on her back, she took a deep breath in and rapped on the door 3 times, and waited for a response. The door opened revealing a yellow quad.

"Oh, uh hello, can I help you with something?"

"Good morning Ms. Kalypso, I know wyngrew usually go to you to get a boo, but I'm here to drop one off I found in town yesterday." Seren gently grabbed the boo and held it towards the quad. "He was hurt and dirty so I took him to the nook so Alma-mom could take care of his injuries, and to get him clean before I brought him here."

Kalypso offered a warm smile at Seren, "I see, its good to know someone's looking out for them out there." She said before gently taking the boo from the quill, "even rarer to find someone who doesn't readily want to keep one."

Seren played with the dirt beneath her foot before giving a sheepish smile, "I-I don't know the first thing about taking care of a boo, I want to make sure he's with someone capable of meeting his every need. I'm sure where ever he ends up after here will be perfect for him."

"Don't you worry, I'll make sure he gets to a good home."

Seren leaned forward and rested her forehead against the boo's, a familiar jolt sparking between them. "Alright little guy, this is it, I told ya you'd be good as new." she said pulling back. "good bye Ms.Kalypso."

"see you around, I guess." The quad said, the boo let out a small kwee before attempting to wriggle out of her arms and leaning towards where Seren was. Kalypso had a working theory and as a test, put the boo down. not one second later, the boo had bolted as fast as he could towards Seren and clung onto her, surprising the young quill. "Aha, I knew it."

"buddy, what are you doing?" Seren asked, confused, She looked up at Kalypso, "I'm so sorry ma'am. I don't kn-"

"Don't apologize, Listen, I know you said you're not ready to take care of a boo, but judging by his reaction, this one isn't going anywhere without you."

"Me?"

"Yup, maybe you missed it but he must've formed a bond with you when you two first met." Kalypso looked up in thought for a moment, "Listen I don't normally give boos, let alone runebabes to wynglings, but given the circumstance; would you like to keep him?"

"I... But I can't, I don't know how to take care of one and there's no way Alma-mom would let me."

"I can give you the basics, and you can always come here if you need help with pet care, as for Alma, tell her I let ya keep it."

"There's no way she'd believe that."

"I can write it down, I'd go with ya if I could, but someone needs to watch my animals." Kalypso looked at the boo and watched him tighten his grip as much as he could around Seren's arm. "Besides, like I said, he must've formed a bond with ya, if there's anyone more qualified to take care of him it's you."

"you really want to stay with me bud?" Seren asked looking down on him. He looked up at her their reflections dancing in each other's eyes. She looked towards Kalypso, "I promise to take care of him the best I can, but could I get a run down of the basics?" She asked bashfully.

"Of course you can."

Seren spent the entire morning getting the gist of what she needs to know to take care of the boo. On her way home, she looked at the boo while walking back, "Alma-mom is not going to be happy but Ms. Kalypso said I should and can keep you,"

"Kweee"

"hm, you know I never gave you a name, what about..." Seren looked around trying to think of a good name.

Meanwhile the boo looked up at the stars, curled up peacefully on her back.

"How about Zora."
