There were only so many things one could do in a large house by themselves, at least until it became repetitive or boring. For the umpteenth that day, Mirage let out a loud sign whilst laying down on the couch. It being the weekend, plus with her father out of town once more, Mirage had the whole day to herself. Barely noon and she'd already exhausted any form of entertainment she had.

She stared at the ceiling for another moment before getting up and walking towards the book shelf, figuring could reread one of her favorites or try reading something new. Her eyes scanned the rows for books before they caught onto a red book; it was thin and had gold bands on the spine along with a compass star. Something about it drew Mirage in and she gingerly pulled the book from the shelf and flipped to look at its cover. It had the same compass star on the front, but Mirage let out a small gasp at the name engraved on the bottom. She gently traced a claw over each letter spelling out 'Evelyn Oriah' ─her mother's name after being married to her father─  the engraving still shone a bright gold, and aside from the corners being slightly worn, the book was obviously very well cared for, not a speck of dust could be found on it. Mirage smiled softly before practically running up the stairs, into her room and up onto her bed.

She caressed the cover once more before she opened it to the first page, there was short note on it which Mirage recognized was her father's handwriting. 'For my beloved Evelyn, and to the rest of our lives together'' She read to herself. "huh, this must've been one of Dad's gift for mom after their wedding." she mused to herself before turning the page once more. This time, the page was filled with sketches, simple and incomplete, some of which seemed like a sketch of a younger version of her father, others being random figure sketches.

Mirage kept flipping through the book and was met with more and more sketches, occasionally she'd find a pressed flower or leaf in between the pages and she'd gently tuck them back into place before flipping to the next. Some pages had drawings of her father making silly expressions which Mirage couldn't help but chuckle at. At some point, sketches of her as a hatchling started to appear and not too long after sketches of her brother. Some she'd recognize and remember herself watching as her mother drew it. Each page was marked with a little flower in the corner, a signature of some sort. She couldn't help but smile sadly at the ones of her with her brother, but she chose not to dwell on it, she'd done enough of that for the past few months. as with everything, all good things must come to an end, there were a handful of blank pages left at the end and Mirage knew full well why.

She let out a quiet sigh as she traced the last flower in the corner thinking. As much as she wanted to keep the sketchbook close to her at all times, it was too valuable to risk it getting damaged or lost before she perked up with an idea. She dug through her drawer to check how much coins she had before grabbing a bag, placing the book carefully in it followed by the coins before she left towards town. She wondered around for all of ten minutes, looking for a tailor's shop before she found one and walked in, where a pink quill was at the counter. She took a breath and approached him, exchanging quick pleasantries before getting down  to business and  placing a custom order, showing exactly what she wanted, discussing payment and time, paying for it in advance and leaving to wait for it to be complete.
