Description

Esmeree and Koda had made dinner together, ate then read a few stories before calling it a night, each heading to their respective rooms.

     Koda looked over to the other bed in his room where Nilin slept after a long day’s work. His gaze shifted to his nightstand, where an envelope sealed with a star sticker sat.

    Koda sat on his bed and dug through the bag he had been carrying the whole day. He pulled out a leather book that had a strap to close it, he held it in his hands before falling back on his bed, he let out a sigh.

    This was it, he was going to leave, but without a proper verbal goodbye. Looking at the envelope once more he thought about its contents: a letter of goodbye and his ring looped onto a leather band.

    Hours passed, everyone in the nook had fallen asleep. Koda stood up from his bed, grabbing the book and the envelope before heading out of the room, using a little of his magic to silence the clicking of the various doors he entered through.

    Walking into Esmeree’s room, he was careful not to wake the purple wyngling up. Placing the Envelope in front of Esmeree and the journal beside her, he stepped back, and turned to leave.

    Koda looked back, letting out a quiet sigh before exiting the room and the nook, whispering a small, “Goodbye.” as he slipped into the cold air of night. His mind looping what the letter had said.

    Dear Esmeree,

    I’m sorry, I know I should’ve been more open, that I should’ve let you know just what I was going through, but I couldn’t. You’ve done so much for me already and it didn’t feel right to add even more onto your workload.
    Truth is, I need to be better, I want to be better, I want to be able to protect you but for now I simply can’t do that. I’m leaving to work on myself, both physically and mentally, I want to be a gro worthy of being called your brother. You’ve been here to support me this entire time, teaching me and learning with me, you helped me learn magic for Chii’s sake. I wouldn’t choose anyone else to call my best friend sister.
    I bought you a journal, I figured I’d buy you something for you to write your thoughts down or something, maybe you can doodle in it or use it as a journal, I don’t know, you technically don’t have to use it.
    This isn’t a goodbye, I will be back. I know it’s hard to believe, but I promise, I will be back. Here, I left my ring here with you, Keep it safe for me will you? I love you Esmeree and thank you for everything.
