Description
Out of curiosity, I did some reading about Baphomet, and it inspired me to draw a unicorn version of them!Β
I find it interesting to learn the real meaning behind pagan and occult symbols, since weβre surrounded by so much off-base and negative portrayals of them. What I discovered is that Baphomet is not a representation of the devil, and symbolizes dichotomy and equilibrium, harmony between opposites.

Finally, a depiction of Baphomet that does not look like a monstrous demon. Baphomet has nothing to do with Satan, but modern media likes to push the myth that he/she is some kind of agent of the devil.

Don't tell the satanists that they like him too

I'm guessing this is a result of two things - Christianity has a history of demonizing pagan symbols and depicting them in a negative way to make paganism look evil, and Baphomet is also co-opted and corrupted by people who call themselves Satanists and are trying to be dark and edgy.
It's a shame that the 'demonic' version is the more common idea out there, but I find it's always worth looking things up yourself and finding out the actual meaning and history behind it. I'm glad I did!

(As a late addendum because I realize my wording isn't clear: when I say "people who call themselves Satanists", I'm not talking about actual Satanists, and I'm not trying to say that the Church of Satan isn't a legitimate religion. What I'm referring to is people who think Satanism involves human sacrifice and think pretending to be violent makes them cool. These posers are somewhat responsible for depicting Baphomet as some murderous monster.)

Actually the Church of Satan has established Satanism as bonified religion as 1966

Well it's both.
Christianity does have a history of demonizing the beliefs of others. King Philip IV accused the Order of Solomon's Temple of Baphomet worship in 1307 AD, and discontinued the Order because of it.Β The association of Bapbomet with the Satanist Church first appears in 1968 AD, when Anton LaVey adopted Pagan iconography for the Satanist Cult, like the Pentagram. He wanted to be edgy.
Historically, Baphomet was a symbol of duality and the sum of the universe, similar to the Sino-Roman concept of the Yin-Yang, hence the depiction as a hermaphrodite. The goat like appearance derives from Eliphas Levi. Prior to this, Baphomet was depicted as a more human figure. The earliest mention of Baphomet was a letter written in 1098 AD, by Anselm of Ribemont.
