It is a single shot Jeff.
Sun was out but occasionally being covered by the odd cloud that partially darken the landscape.
I waited and captured this when foreground and background were light but middle section was dark.

I always like them better when they're the "real deal." I didn't think I recalled you ever doing over-lays or manipulations. Sometimes the tell-tale sign it is a manip is where the horizon meets the sky. But this looked to be a high ridge with a sharp drop-off behind which accounts for it not having the usual sky meets horizon look. I hope you understand what I'm saying. I'm in no way disparaging your work. It's a lovely photo.

Jeff. I told a porky in my first reply as it is two images! However, they are side-by-side shots stitched and not an overlay sky.
I can understand your comments because your thinking was just like mine when image was produced - sky looks false.
Also, as per your comment, it is the lay-of-the-land that causes that illusion.
I am standing higher than than the brown field. When the green end in goes into a hallow.
In that hallow is a single track road and the tree is by the track.
The brown field rises up from the track to the top of plough line and then shortly after that drops off suddenly over the horizon.
