If I'd known I'd be spending two hours just drawing stubble, I might have chosen a different picture.
Ohwell. I'm proud of how it came out. 
Had to enlarge everything slightly because I made his eye too long.

That eye is very eye catching. Dynamic. I like the pose.
The only thing I'd recommend you do is add more gradient to his arm. The reference pic shows his arm as soft and round, whereas the gradient in your submission is less defined.
Other than that, excellent details! That's your forte, it seems.

Wow, this is great. It looks like a photograph from the thumbnail.
I really like how you've done his eyebrow, it looks very realistic. The shading is really good too, especially around his eye.
If I was to criticise something, I'd say that his eye looks too flat. I look at the iris, and it just doesn't look right. (But I see this on the vast majority of portraits, so you're not alone. 
Also, the edges of the earring look rather rough and sketchy. This is just me nitpicking, though. Heh. Sorry.
It does look /really/ good overall, though. And - since I've just noticed this - the shading of the lips is amazing.

Yes, I definitely agree with you about his eye. I've gotten so many comments going "Love the eye!" or whatnot and I was totally confused with what people saw in it. So I'm glad you pointed out the flaw so I knew I wasn't losing it.

The eyes are definetly the most intense aspect here
and because of that it is my favorite part of it all.
Also, the detailing on the mustache is very well done;
It's messy and natural for a man such as he.

This looks amazing! The shading is wonderfully done; it helps form very realistic shapes, and the contrast makes the painting pop. I love the detail, especially in the stubble and eyelashes, and the single eye gazing over his shoulder looks very dramatic. Lovely work!
