Description
The Great Vorelli and Hugo are characters from a 1964 B-horror film from Britain called 'Devil Doll.' The premise of the story is that of a devious ventriloquist, played by Bryant Haliday and stylized after Svengali, that uses a possessed dummy to serve his evil agenda. The film itself carries a certain bleakness and low production quality, earning it the ambiguous honor of being featured in the movie-mocking comedy series 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' in the late 1990s.Related content

This is fantastic! I love Bryant Haliday and all his films. I actually bought three seperate version of Devil Doll (Cut, Uncut, and the MST3K Version) I love him so much!

Thank you. Yes, indeed, Bryant Haliday was a fine actor, but unfortunately an unlucky one. Still, I think the only reason that I know who he is would be through his appearances on MST3K as the Great Vorelli and the Projected Man. Consequently, this refined man of dramatic arts was immortalized through television comedy, which he probably never would have predicted while alive.

He loved the schlock films he was in. He was still alive when MST came out. He was probably really proud (like Joe Estevez).
I visited Brattle Theatre last summer. I felt a little of his amazingness while I sat looking at the stage.

Whenever I watch this movie, I spend the next several weeks hearing Vorelli (or Crow as Vorelli) ranting about ham, every time I see or eat it...

Thank you. Bryant Haliday, I believe, was actually a decent actor that found himself in an interesting role, but with a script that needed some varnish. Maybe it should have been bratwurst instead of ham...
