Let's go back in time. A time before the Elements of Harmony. A time before the fall of Sunset Shimmer or rise of Nightmare Moon. Even a time before Discord became Discord. Back when young Equestria had flourishment of a creature called the draconequus. The Draconequus were a unique and quite extraordinary creature. Gifted with grand and amazing powers, they used it to help the good of the young Lands in times of old. They were a very proud race and took much honor when it comes to using their magic for the greater good. To match their chaotic magic were their unique figurings and body structures. The main structure of a draconequus was "standard" as you may say with long slender bodies, jumbled up with different animal features. Draconequus may also appear to have deer like bodies, kangaroo body types, bird figure, or even a seahorse-like body structure. Regardless of what body builds a draconequus may have, one of the most important and admirable features a draconequus pocessed were the minds of a pony and heart of the dragons. Along with their unique appearance came the gift of having a extended life span. As far as they were aware of, draconequus were the longest living species known at that time, matching up to the life spans of alicorns. Even though they had a long lifespan does not mean they could live forever. But overall the draconequus were very loving, very loyal, and very humble creatures who roamed around trying to help when they can.

The Draconequus had their own leaders to look too and count on: Lord Dissary and Lady Eris. While they weren't the very first leaders, they were the last known ones in existence. They loved their subjects dearly. Lady Eris kind enough to show her subjects how to properly use their magic and guide them how to improve themselves while Lord Dissary brought chaos and order to them and together they would rule these draconequus into many many years of peace. Eventually the couple yearned for a cub of their own and after years of trying, Eris was finally able to concieve. She later laid an egg and thus Discord was born into this wonderful world. The couple was more than happy, their subjects were doing well, and all seemed well.

Well there are a few things worth mentioning. See not everyone the draconequus came across exactly welcomed them with open arms. In fact a majority of most would run and flee at their appearance, not knowing what is to come of a creature so oddly put together. Rumors were spread as creatures would begin to have a careful eye out if they spotted them. At first it was just turning away from them, ignoring them and trying to talk to them as little as possible. But that slowly started to change into verbal insults to the creatures which quickly shifted into physical contact. Dissary and Eris tried their best to assure their subjects and the public that they could live in peace and they were to be trusted. But the tension would slowly build over time until they finally came across the young tribes of the unicorn, pegasi, and earth ponies. At first they were welcomed, oddly enough. Princess Platinum was the first to welcome these creatures, she saw that they may be some use to her fellow unicorns. Chancellor Puddinghead would slowly crawl aboard and try to see good in these creatures and for a moment, they may have found a way to bring peace. But that all changed in an instance when a small group of draconequus cubs got into a scuffle with some of the ponies, one from each tribe. Both were injured in some way, nothing major, but the tribe leaders each agreed they wouldn't let it get major. While the tribes were still divided and not yet go through the events of Hearts Warming, these were the few occasions they would work together against a common enemy. The leaders of each tribe said they wanted to talk with Dissary and Eris, but we all know where this is going.

They attacked Dissary and Eris. Turns out a surprise attack was planned on the draconequus community. Dissary and Eris fought with all their might but with the surprise attack and the ponies actually out numbering the draconequus, they knew they would need to retreat. But sadly they watched as their subjects started to fall to the ground as Heaven gained more members that night. In the midst of the fighting, a very young Discord cried for his mama. Eris and Dissary were able to get out of the grips of their attackers as they raced to save their son. That's when Eris spotted her niece, to which they named Eris as well, huddled with a few other draconequus cubs. After securing Discord, she rushed to Eris as she handed him over to her. "Run Eris!" she said, "Follow the diamond stars and don't look back! We'll be right behind you! Take care of your cousin, I'll be right behind you." Eris looked at her much younger cousin before looking back up at her Aunt. An angry cry sounded as they both turned to the sound. To their horror they looked as Dissary fell to the ground, blood gushing from the side of his ribs. Eris blinked as tears fell down as she looked back at her younger subjects. They were all wide eyed and terrified. Eris drew in a deep breath as she snapped her paw, sending the small group far away from this land. Gone, Eris turned around to try and help aid her husband.

Meanwhile, far, far away, the small group of draconequus were now all alone. Eris held onto her cousin as she looked at the other draconequus. She had no idea what to do. One of the older cubs there suggested they go back while the other said to listen to what Lady Eris said. In the midst of this commotion, baby Discord fussed and began to cry. Eris tried her best to calm him down but the young cub wouldn't have it and ended up teleporting for the first time. With now empty arms, Eris began to cry out for her now lost cousin as the other draconequus decided to search for him as well. But sadly, they would never find him for he had teleported to a different realm where he would call home for a very long time before many many years later...

As for what happened that night and than forward, well, it was just a straight up massacre. Aside from a few that escaped and that small group that Eris had help escaped, everyone else was gone...The small group that Eris help to escape were able to meet up with the few that remained as they all stuck together (though sadly for Eris, Discord's cousin, she ran away. Feeling guilty that she lost her cousin, she ran away from this world and escaped to another where she would later become a Princess and actually be able to rule.). It was a very sad night as they all huddled among the tree tops to sleep. The days that followed, they would travel long distances before finding a place where it was safe, secure, and most importantly untouched. There, they would build a new civilization where they were welcomed and safe. As for what happened to Lord Dissary and Lady Eris: Eris was able to drag her husband away from the mess. He was alive but only by a thread. Eris herself was severely wounded but chose to ignore it. Eris tried everything in her power to meet up with the last of her subjects as well as try to find a way to clear everything that just happened. But sadly, her strength would leave her with each passing moment. Dissary would wake very briefly to see his weak wife as they just curled themselves together by, what seemed to be an abandoned castle (which in the future would be the very place the Pillars plant the seeds to grow the Tree of Harmony) and wait to join their subjects very soon. While no one would know, Eris and Dissary dying wishes were that one day, their son could maybe bring the bond of ponies and draconequus together. That finally they could live in peace together as one....
