My entry for 's contest "OCs in History"

I went a little overboard with a two panel drawing featuring my two OCs Scandia and Britannia with a little baby!England thrown in with them (and Germania's sword). I couldn't help myself with the symbolism either the storm, closed door, and red were all too tempting. The background was inspired by the old masters' paintings of landscapes (art education FTW!) Scandia's clothing was inspired by 's design for Viking!Denmark. And Britannia's was inspired by the current fashion trends of the time. The characters' line art was inspired by old prints and I felt that the cross contours, cross hatching, and hatching would help add depth and texture to the piece.

793 Is pretty much the dawn of the Viking age which would last until about 1066, but as we know, history is not kind enough to fit within those guidelines. I wanted to add more tension then just 'brute comes from north and takes everything' so I made Germania Britannia's dead husband which would make Scandia her brother-in-law whom she'd then kill with Germania's sword. Family politics; it's a beautiful thing in art, isn't it? But on a more historic note, the guy who built Lindisfarne on an island probably felt pretty embarrassed when it got raided.

I don't own England or Hetalia... or Lindisfarne...
