Illustration for a campaign (Verder Na Verlies) about people (65+) who get isolated after losing people who are dear to them. It was a campaign to make them go out more and if they're too shy or felt too ashamed about it that they could talk about it with a doctor or nurse.Related content

its a travisty that this was submitted in 05 and has so few views,
its a tremendous piece. really from the colors and mood to the realistic textures and photo lines mixed with t.giliam like drawings. its really a great work

Favorited for many resons, not least of which is the amazing way you've made the image ^^
Also, because presently, we're living above my grandmother while saving to buy a house.. and while she is far too stubborn to admit how lonley she trully was after loosing so many people.. she pretends that she enjoyed the empty house, and silence.. and yet, there's always little presents, and notes.. and she always finds a way to have you sit down and spend hours talking.. even when she knows you need sleep, or are trying to get somewhere..

I know what you mean. She is lucky she can still talk to her grandchildren and if she is a nice lady, it's so wonderful to be able to do so. Many old people just die alone and people just wonder where the smell comes from after a few weeks. I think that's so tragic and a very painful and scary way to die.

Wow this is interesting, and so very sad too. She seems to be knitting some friends for herself. To me this is a very poignant piece. Lives are so fragile...

Well, my meaning behind the knitting people is that she has to work hard herself to make new contacts or not giving in to the feeling that her life has past. Also cause the material keeps you warm like a blanket, scarf or some other warm winter clothing. Cause all alone in your house can be a cold feeling. So it also refers to body warmth and personal contact.
