Battle for Scraparp,
Siege of Ironhill Village

Why do we serve?

Continues from: [link]

Next chapter: [link]

"Dammit Bink, wait up!" Kavez shouted, while chasing his partner down the stairs. "I'mma not gonna save ya if ya get eaten alone in da...... wha?"

Kavez paused for a while as he saw Bink looking blankly at the local noticeboard in the ruins of the cafe's first floor. At first Kavez thought Bink was looking at the "Lost and found" or local war news. Stuff that Bink apparently had some sort of horrid facination in.

Then he saw it.
displayed proudly on the surprisingly intact noticeboard, was a huge, slightly tattered recruitment poster that was put up shortly after the escalation wars on Scraparp. A look at it brought a flood of old memories to him.

"Old memories Bink?" Kavez said, staring at the poster.

"Yep Kavez." Bink replied, still staring at the poster.

"Damn wish I wasn't stuck in." Kavez muttered to Bink.

Bink thought for a while.
"Kavez...." He asked. "Why did ya join da army?"

"Me?" Kavez sighed. "It was the result of a stupid 100 buck dare by me friends. "

"Eh?"

"Yep, Bink. Took up me friend's 100 Buck dare to try the auditions for being an Exorcist. Didn't think I had anything special, so I accepted da dare."

Kavez cleared his throat, then continued, "Da boyz in da station said me gots potential, then I got drafted. How bout ya Bink?"

Bink scratched his helmet then smirked.
"Bink was in cause of a bet with me sister. "

"Wah??" Kavez shot out, staring him.

"Yep. Bink wanted to get away from her. So made a bet with me sister. Looser signs up." Bink replied, still smiling at the poster.

"What ya bet?"

"Meatballs", Bink repiled with an evil grin. "But me sister ate one more than me. So yes."

Kavez stared, open-mouthed at his partner at a complete loss for words as his buddy continued after a short pause.

"Though either way, Bink's far away from me sister so Bink's happy."

"Bink..." Kavez said.

"Yep Kavez."

"I still hate ya, ya brainless idiot."

"Bink hates idiot Kavez too."

Battle for scraparp: Sign up sheet

See [link]
Do you know where that medal came from?

Yes, this is the sign up sheet for the Battle for Scraparp.

Write in "FOR THE SCRAPS GOD!!!" before writing to possibly get something random later.

Compulsary background info: see Journal 79: [link]
You Must answer these questions (cause need char backgrounds)

For those long-time watchers that used to be part of the previous squad photo, you can either choose to re-use the same character (that means I'll use the previous info so you don't have to re-do the lot ) or you can use a new one.

Though if you are a veteran of the previous pic. you still need to state that you are intending to join this project.

You may use your avatar, or any other of your own characters of your choice.
and ANTHRO ONLY!!!!
I will need a picture reference for the new character this time

Info:

Depending on response, I may go full scale and make a comic out of the supplied characters. This comic details the war that went on over a planet Scraparp and also explains the Scraparp Veteran medal.

It'll be a little Rp-ish in that comments on the comic itself may be drawn into the next comic. Will use very simple stats for characters.

Note: Carried weapon limit is at 4 "Hands"
I.e. 4 one handed weapons
or 2 two handed weapons.

YOU ARE NOT RAMBO!!!

________________________________________ _____

Other optional information
This for more personalisation of your character.
if you don't answer this, I'll make it up.... sort-of.
though it will GREATLY HELP ME if you answered them.
If you choose not to answer any section, just tell me to make it up and That will do too.

1) Why did your character sign up? (May be referenced in the comic...... may be a good reason or something really dumb like Bink and Kavez. )

If so, what injury sustained for it?
(This will be used for the storyline)

4) Favourite pastime? (note: in army camp conditions)

5) Number of times bitten by a Drakenfox

Preference for first mission
Choose 1:
-- Urban
-- installation
-- Space station

Unsure fo anything?
Just ask

Requirements for signing up
You need to have commented on the battle for Scraparp comic story a few times before eligable.

If you'd read the story, you'd kinda know what to expect.

As true with the squad photo, there's gonna be the same old medal and rank thing that I'll give.

Depending on response I may or may not go through with this. Also even if I do, it'll be at the end of Bink and Kavez's little story.

yes. VERY massive Undertaking.

________________________________________ ______

One more note:

Why is this sign up hidden here in the scrap pile?

Well, the hint is in the name,
Battle for Scraparp
So only those who watch and say stuff in me scraps are part of it.

Also need to explain that medal.

And cause from some bad experiences from the squad pic, I want to limit this project to those who really watch me

And please type out EVERYTHING on a comment on this scrap.... including any usual comments if you have any (don't worry if it's too long. I don't mind long comments.). It's a lot easier for me to refer to that way

And one more note:
Please avoid telling others the location of this sign-up sheet. (Tryin to keep it true to above point)

--> Snowfyre out.

Sure sure. thanks. need link to reference.

also use of any non-standard weaponry requires the exotic weaponry proficiency feat. One for each weapon.

I thought the charges would be covered under the demolitions feat, but I can get rid of them. And I'll swap out the blade with something more conventional if I must. Perhaps a machete or combat knife of some kind, he just needs a decent melee weapon (I can't imagine fists would do too well against daemons).

*ahem*
FOR THE SCRAPS GOD!

1) Name: Saint William Dook Jr Goes by just 'Saint'

2) Species: Leucistic Domestic Ferret

3) Why? Fuck yeah, ferrets!

4) Height and Age: 175cm at 19 years of age.

5) Specialized skills: High tolerance for heat and pressure; Ferret spine, he's very flexible and limber which lets him squeeze in almost anywhere; Very skilled knife thrower, uses this skill with grenades; Demolitions trained.

6) Combat Vocation: Former reconnaissance scout, now trained in demolitions.

7) Primary and Secondary weapon: Primary is usually mission appropriate demo weapons. If given a choice, he'd take a grenade launcher. Secondary would be a sub machine gun. That's all four slots, yes?

8) Confirmed kills: Stopped counting after he set a trap for a caravan. Plenty unconfirmed. Can't check kills when you blow up a few vehicles in a firefight.

9) Distinguishing features: Besides having the rare leucistic gene, he had ears ears pierced and a black cross tattooed into his fur on his back.

10) Non-standard gear: He has throwing knife holsters his right leg and left shoulder. He replaced the standard combat knife with a black balanced throwing variant. Extra ammunition for grenade launcher on his uniform's chest.

11) Helmet? Yes but he loses them quite often and he has a tendency to paint or carve quotes and sayings into them leaving those who find them confused.

12) Habits: Besides throwing his knives, he's a big gamer. Managed to sneak a handheld game system into base. Bit of a collector. He collects discarded bladed weapons he finds on the field.
----
A) Why did you join? What better way to get tougher then to experience war first hand? He wanted to show his girlfriend that he'd go through hell for her. So that's exactly what he's doing.

B) Feats
+ Acute senses (Ferrets have big ears.)
+ Demolition trained
+
Math Genius Guestimating/Instinct (Math? Hah, no. He uses his gut for arcing his grenades.)
+ AT proficiency
+ First aid
- Butterfingers
(Lets see you reload perfectly with rounds wizzing by your head!)
- Can't shoot straight (You're not supposed to aim straight with grenade launchers, you're supposed to arc. ;] Rockets have guidance anyways. SMG is for spray and pray.)

C) Scraparp Crimson tear medal? No wounds deserving of one, yet!

D) Favorite pastime? He whops ass at horseshoes, but he spends a lot of time reading reading digital books.

E) Number of times bitten by a Drakenfox and what is the transforming trigger? He's stumbled across the rests of them but luckily enough he's avoided bites so far.

F) Preference for first mission Urban. He's a city kid. Hoodrat.

Phew! That's was quite a lot of typing!

Cpt-Night In reply to Snowfyre [2007-11-03 17:48:25 +0000 UTC]

well if you'll take him i was wondering if you would use my character Renaldo.

background
1) chracter's name: Renaldo Rivera

2) well he's just a fox

3) i liked foxes the best when i came up with him about a year ago.

4) well 5'6" about 167.64 cm age 28

5)special abilities: lightning reflexes, tactical genius, highly observant, good motivator.

6)close combat specialist fights with a sword and a pistol, defensive fighting style which also involves the use of armor guantlets. prefers light armor put together with the toughest guantlets available for light infantry. (fast reflexes but running speed is slow)

7)dual weilds a pistol blade(not sure if you count it as an exotic weopon.) and an automatic pistol. also uses his guantlets as weopons. so i guess blade is one hand, pistol is one hand, and the specialized guantlets make up the last two openings

8)hasn't claimed to kill many but claims to cripple every oponent (doesn't like to kill, but to cripple opponents and make them a burden to there allies)

9)has a distinct scar on his snout [link]
along with a long tapered black stripe from his forhead to the bottom of his neck.

10)specil equipment. buster guantlets- made of the strongest metal available for light armor. made bullet proof so can block(not reflect) shots fired at him and blades used against him, with his reflexes.

11)prefers not too wear a helmet but usually will if he has to.

12)never likes to take off his gloves/guantlet. writes a personal juornal on scrap papers and a pencil that he keeps in his gauntlets with a picture of his fiancee. (plans to get married when the war is over). he doesn't take orders well and is a dare devil.

reason for joining- Fiancee convince him to because he has some natural talent for fighting

injuries- only minor besides his one big scar

feats
+lightning relfexes
+strongwilled
+instinctive shooting
+exotic weoponry
- butterfingers

favorite pastimes
1 write his journal
2 strategy card games, bluffing card games, dare games, sparing

bitten by drakenfox- never, but he has marks on gloves were he was attacked by them (he claims).

Pistol blades are exotic weapons.
so yes, good feat selection though. Just beware of throwing grenades.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tbolt In reply to Snowfyre [2007-10-18 11:34:52 +0000 UTC]

Speaking of recruiting: I cobbled this up this morning:

For the Scraps god!!!

1) Rothman Alistair Smerlsban (Roth for short)

2) Skunk

3) Well, I like skunks, they aren’t very common, plus he always has a built in weapon! β€œDeadly from either end!”

4) 6'4" tall (193cm) 35 years old.

5) Roth is an oxymoron, the intelligent, polite NCO. He has a wide array of knowledge on various topics from tactics to biology, to astrophysics, to demolitions. Of course there is his musk. One thing he has learned, that by altering his diet he can control to a certain extent the chemical makeup of his musk, changing its scent, color, and level of irritation when sprayed on a target. (Even flammable! GameMaster permitting, of course, Roth: Not something I’m proud of, either! )

6) Roth is Military Police, and a counter-insurgency specialist.

7) Roth qualified expert in pistol, rifle, and grenades. He can pinpoint spray his musk to a range of 40m or make a mist cone 5m wide and 5m deep. His preferred close- quarters weapon is a top-break revolver based on an ancient design. It fires .50 caliber bullets designed to penetrate armor (steel tip, copper jacket) and then fragment to maximize internal damage. The revolver holds 7 shots. For longer range combat he uses his standard issue rifle to lethat effect, preferring single shots to automatic spraying. Roth: β€œAny moron can hit a target with a hail of bullets!”

8) Roth does not keep β€œscore” of those he has killed. He considers it unprofessional. Some missions he has been on in the past have required him to do things he is not proud of, but were necessary for the success of his mission and the survival of his team. His top priority is getting his men out alive.

9) Roth is covered in jet black fur, with twin white stripes starting at his snout, down his back and linking at the end of his tail. He has white β€œgloves”, β€œsocks” and chest. His tail is huge, 4 feet long (122cm) and as broad as his shoulders. For combat purposes he will usually wrap it in a cloth and keep it close to his back to maintain a lower profile. At night it makes a handy blanket! =^^=

10) If available Roth will don body armor.

11) Depending on the mission, Roth may wear a helmet. Covert missions he will go β€œlight” Expected combat, he will wear headgear, usually with radio and/or voice amplification to shout orders to his men.

12) Roth loves reading, learning about the world he is on, the habits of his enemies, classical literature, history, NO COMIC BOOKS!

...

...

Well

...

Maybe one, about a goofy blue furred female space pirate!

(But that is a deep dark secret! )

I know there are still a few questions I need to answer from this sheet Will get to those after work

Is this ok?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to tbolt [2007-10-18 12:06:51 +0000 UTC]

That's ok with me. Pretty cool character sheet.

Pretty interesting ability, will have to figure when to include it.
Though body armour for coalition troops on the field is standard issue. Typical type comes in modular sections, Legs, Shoulders and chest.... (it's sort of like that that Bink and Kavez wears, though they aren't wearing the leg pads. ).... and there's also the special issue bullet-resistant vests that are worn by the fast attack / covert troops (like the Roadrunner teams)

Military police in the Infantry squad. Lol Might make sense. Specially with all the cultists.

Though for this particular storyline, the maximum rank will be CPL. Will decide that later.

May need a picture of reference for the pistol.

Take your time to answer the rest of the questions. I'm keeping this sign up open for a really long time. First wave will prolly close near the end of Bink and Kavez's little story.

That makes you the 4th entrant.

tbolt In reply to Snowfyre [2008-02-28 12:09:59 +0000 UTC]

Ok, here's the rest of Roth's info... (sorry for the length! = )

Why did Roth enlist?

Roth is from another world. (Just ask Friskella) His homeworld was heavily industrialized and required a lot of back bending labor to keep running. Callouses and sweat were badges of honor worn proudly.

People played as hard as they worked. Athletics burned off the frustrations of the day favoring hard-hitting contact sports. Adept athletes were heroes.

Roth loved books. While all the other children played Splatball, Heavy-Thing Toss, and Maim the Rock, Roth sat in a corner placidly reading. He read everything, from fact to fiction, philosophy to trivia, he absorbed knowledge like a sponge. Which usually meant that he was the object in games of β€œMaim the Rock”.

Matters weren’t helped when his growth spurt hit in High School. Three years saw young Roth sprout from 4'6" (137cm) to 6'4" (193cm). Worse many of the games played at the high school level required balance and coordination. An impossible feat when one’s limbs are longer today than yesterday!

Two things allowed Roth to keep his sanity: First the care and love of his parents, and second his faith.

Then it happened, a BlackSpace terrorist killed both of Roth’s parents in one day. That event galvanized the young skunk. He enlisted in the Space Force the next day. Scrawny and physically weak, he determined to set out to make the galaxy a better place to live in, by eliminating criminals one at a time, if necessary.

Eventually he ended up chief of security for a massive trans-galactic, experimental starship. That ship ended up hijacked shortly before its completion, and Roth was the only SF member able to make it inside the stolen vessel. An accident caused the vessel to be catapulted across the galaxies into completely unknown space where a hodgepodge crew was hastily formed out of everyone left on the ship (surviving hijacker included). They have been trying to get home ever since.

A teleportation accident left Roth on a Coalition world. Roth was desperately trying to get back to his ship, but a daemon attack stopped that. Roth knows that a greater good is calling him, so he will put aside his personal quest for the moment and give his best to stave off the disaster.

Bitten by a Drakenfox? Never, most critters learn rapidly that skunks are bad news to antagonize (Would you bite into what smells like a giant turd?). The only natural predator for a skunk is an Owl. Why? Owls have no sense of smell! (Actual fact! =^^= )

Marksman
Math genius
Demolition Trained
(Daemonic Allergy
Spell resistance )

The first time Roth encountered a daemon, he thought he would crawl out of his skin. The sensation greatly disturbs him on many levels. Why spells do not affect him in the same way as others, he does not know. Perhaps his parents still watch over him from their places in heaven...

Thanks.

Kind lost count of the number of episodes already,
Though the first story kinda starts right in the thick of it. (Wasn't actually intending on making a full story on them, but the responses to the first one kind inspired me to do so. )

Though now kinda using it also as a showcase of the various technologies and enemies in the full comic project.

Hal. you knew it was coming. stats'll be the same,
but this time around, I want to lose the flame tail, and dissociate him from pokemon. also, I'd like to add a crowbar as a second close combat weapon.

for the optional stuff:
1)Hal: I joined because my help and service was needed. after hetfield hill and tarrag rift, I figure there's very little I can't handle at this point.

2)Hal:-daemon allergy. they give me t3h itchies
++ace pilot after tarrag rift.
+++mobile Sniper after years of experience
2x +exotic weapons (close combat), though I'd hardly consider a sword or crowbar exotic.

3)Hal has been one lucky bastard in that he's never been seriously hurt in battle.

4)card games, eating anything remotely edible (may include fellow soldies)

5)Hal: none, but I'm worried as I still haven't taken care of John's bite yet...

6)Hal: Urban. Guerrilla warfare FTW.

Well, you could edit the feats (at your own time....)
Cause currently you chose 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 -1 feats... I.e. a total of 6, and it's 3 over the limit )

Or if you can't decide I'll do it for you....

theEyeoftheMind71 In reply to Snowfyre [2007-10-11 21:31:12 +0000 UTC]

well, then I suppose I could drop the 2Xexotic weapon and drop to snap shooting, which would be 2+2-1.

That would do nicely
Thanks.

Though Omega's the dedicated pilot already, means you'll be on foot. (I.e. you'll keep the green attire)

But You'll get some other fun moments to use that skill (Cause there are other funny vehicles and skimmers and well...... perhaps the occasional mech. )

The cultist tanks?
Oh, you wouldn't want to be in one of those things.

They are frequently demon infested.

Hal: that's what guns are for.

Well, most of the time, daemons will kinda possess the whole damn tank. It's quite annoying in that this will often cause the tank to regenerate or self-repair, and even slowly regenerate destroyed tracks or weapons.

I.e. You gotta blow up the whole damn tank to get rid of it for good.

Also the tank often will behave like it has a mind of it's own (Which is, actually the case)

Ah cool.

Interesting reason for joining.

will use that, though with the suggested mods.
Crowbar. Lol. Can be a tool, so not count towards weapon limit.

Remotely edible? O__o

So that's 2 for Urban.

Well, swords are not exotic unless if they are energy swords, have power fields or are magically enchanted in any way.

Crowbar..... not unless you are really wielding it as a main weapon in close combat. If it's just a stand-out weapon, you don't need the feat.

Though Ace pilot feat requires the pilot feat, so you'll need to choose pilot first then ace pilot (i.e. effectively counts as 2 feats)

Also The Mobile sniper Legendary feat requires another feat (which also in turn requires marksman ) hence it effectively counts as 3 feats.

(hint: Number of + kinda gives a hint to how many effective feats it's worth)

So yes think you took too many feats, may need to reorganise them.

Lol.

Yes. You kinda took 3 over the limit due to prerequisite feats.

Other comment Which one?
