Description
No postwork other than color correction (oh and the brush stroke on the floor), but there's some pokethrough I noticed a little too late to fix. Only posted this because the colors came pretty well, so please ignore the errors.
Thanks for viewing!

Thanks! This picture isn't very good though, plus her afro is way too small here. The coloring is interesting though, that's why I posted it.

Perhaps that's the secret: an excellent model ... excellent composition --- but not overdone?
It's an excellent piece regardless

Thanks very much! It was very simple but I guess I was lucky with the color correction.

Really nice job!
I don´t remember if you said, but do you have any idea when you will post some picture of Lust?

Thanks! I will try him in this style too, it seems the less clothes a character is wearing, the better this fantasy oil style looks. I reeeeeallly wish I could upgrade him to Gen 2 Male, but his old clothes just will not convert well enough and aside from that fancy outfit that I mentioned in a poll a while back (which I haven't bought yet), I haven't seen anything for G2M that I think would really fit him well.

I love that oil style too!
You could write a short story with him, Smacky and Eri. I'd love to read about some little adventure with them.

Haha, I'm not much of a writer and I haven't written a lot of actual dialogue for my characters yet. I'll try to do more of that once I can make art more easily. You inspired me to work on Lust again, so yesterday I remade him using Genesis 2 Male. He didn't look the same though and all of the clothes had to be parented on, so I spent today working on the M4 version again. I think he still looks good and I'll post a render soon.

Her skin looks great in this, which character did you use?
I still have to use your INJ of Smacky.

It's still good old Elite Marie for V4, but I used all kinds of Photoshop Curves and Camera Raw settings to make it look more painterly. I like Marie because it's detailed enough and has a nice no-makeup option. Thanks!

Postwork is the key, as renders look dull most of the time. Oh nice, I haven't used Marie though I have her - thought I had to look for a dark skin.
You seriously need to share your secret in making renders look more painterly.

I don't have much of a secret, it's just a whole lot of Photoshop color correction methods (Curves, Camera Raw, etc). I've had people claim my creations as their own in the past, so I'm not really up to giving away my more specialized techniques or presets these days. I'd recommend just taking your renders to Photoshop and experimenting a lot with color correction methods to find something you like.

I usually resort to some filters for the painter look with varying results. While I use color correction and tons of layers, I haven't used them for the painterly look.
That sucks, unfortunately thieves are everywhere! had my fair share of that, too.

That's one little secret I can share; the biggest mistake that people make when trying to make a render look painterly or like a comic book is to use filters. They always give the same basic and easily recognizable results. Try adding a Curves Adjustment layer and carefully adjust the Red, Blue, and Green graphs individually. A combination of carefully adjusted Brightness/Contrast, Curves, and Hue/Saturation layers are sometimes all you need to really improve a render. If you really want a painterly look, I'd recommend learning how to use the Art History brushes (although I don't know them quite well enough to make a tutorial yet).

It takes some practice to understand what the different brush types and sizes do, but it's fun to experiment with them on photographs to learn. Using a small one for details is useful.

Actually I only have tried it twice with no success,....patience isn't my strongest suit. Sometimes I wish we humans had something similiar to a cd drive for our brains, open it, put in cd et voila, instant knowledge......would be so much easier with all these progs out there nowadays....

I've wished that too, particularly for languages. I'm very quick to learn but I have a lousy memory...which makes learning another language even more frustrating.

Oh yeah, especially for the more complicated ones.......I have a good memory, but sometimes an in-built dictionary would be great!
