Out of all the Mystery Dungeon games I've played, this was the game that made me cry during the Main Story's ending. So sad, and yet, I'm a guy in my mid 20's.

probably because the end consequence for victory is even more dramatic than past games. before, you just disappear from physical existence. this time, success means you're gone from even your friends' memories. The fact that you aren't brought back after the credits this time drives the nail into the player's heart even more. Gamefreak, keep up the amazing work at pulling our heartstrings.

HNNG! Who... Who was your partner? Because I was a Snivy too... I just started to after-game, waiting for myself to come back. I would've cried if it wasn't for two or three things...
1. My Family was near, they ALWAYS ask why you cry...
2. I always prevent myself from crying, it's become instinct... whoops.
3. I always cry inside... a lot.

I got another game from my sis. I deleted her save(regret that just a little bit,) and started up as an Oshawott, with a Pikachu partner. Prevented me from deleting the Snivy file, which I loved. My partner... is an Axew. How about you?

I was crying as I was floating up and I had FINALLY calmed down....then Hiedragion gave me the frism...I just broke down....

um i dont know if you know this but if you continue to do jobs after the ending you'll get to advance the story and your main character will come back when you get to a dungeon called the worldcore

yeah that's what i meant when i said that they managed to fake me out about the hero coming back, that the game tricked me into believing that they WOULDNT, because usually the hero comes back right after the credits. thanks for the tip anyway, though

I just finished this game yesterday.
I was kinda mad about the hero not coming back at first. Although I love having my partner and teammates around, my leader is the strongest and the most strategic when it comes to battling. Because he's a Pikachu, he knows Thunder Wave and Electro Ball, which gets boosted in attack when the opponent is slower than the pokemon using it. So that really came in handy during my gameplay.
Anyway, I'm rambling. This picture is still adorable, and the ending made me cry ;^;

I didn't know this one ended like this too. Don't worry I don't knowing that, it just reminds me of old times when you would do a lot of PMD stuff. It's nice to see some of that again.

This scene made me cry... I loved it, especially what Virizion and Espeon said at the end. And the 15 second melody that plays when your main character dies... That made me cry more than anything

In reality and in a implied sense, he kinda does in his pokemon self (right before the credits he cries to the frism... Then it fades to black, and he's gone and the ball of light keeps rising). So basically his pokemon self dies off in a implied way

No problem. It's just that considering how in the original PMD game that they referred to your character's departure as a "spirit" that implies that he is dead as a pokemon, and since the same yellow ball appears here, that's how I took it
