Description
I... really do feel that I'm every day a bit less of an illustrator. Comics and animation are my thing, really, but every once in a while I itch to just... draw and color a thing and make it pretty. And then I realize I just made a fancy animation frame with a dreadful composition. Oh wel... I guess I should be thankful I get better in some area, at least. At least the pose is nice enough.I've literally been meaning to draw this kid for years. It's one of my very favourite series ever, so I really owed him to be part of the eternal fanart 100 ( www.deviantart.com/sofiaaq/jou…) I have going on. And Aang is great at being such a sweet kid and at the same time growing into his responsability! He makes me happy, so here he is, in his element.

How cute! Don't talk down to yourself about your drawing abilities, I think this is really nice! And I totally agree with your assessment of Aang--I absolutely love how he managed to grow more responsible yet still retained his innocence and gentleness. That is something so rarely seen in fiction, and it meant a lot to me when I watched the show too.

Hello! Thank you for your kind words . I didn't mean it as talking myself down! I'm actually pretty happy with my drawing abilities, but I guess sometimes I like to complain a bit. I just meant to muse about the fact I haven't been able to do a scene-illustration kind of thing in a long time.
And yeah, characters like Aang and Steven from Steven Universe make me so happy. I just really like it when characters manage to be able to grow and learn and actually decide that you can be kind and good and strong at the same time. I think it's a message that is really important, but it requires to be really well written to work, so I appreciate it very much when it is.

You're so welcome! And yes, I totally agree! It does take a certain amount of skill to write, but is such an important message to do so.
Is Aang your favorite of the ATLA cast? Mine is actually Uncle Iroh (who also has several inspiring aspects as the story goes on, IMHO), but Aang may indeed be my second-favorite, all things considered!
