Description
I've been recently caught up remembering how much I love Chrono Trigger and this happened. I'd be ashamed of spending so much into fanart, but the truth is I'm happy. I needed a simple, clear idea to practice certain things (poses and expression in an illustration... as well as color handling for rendering the environment) and I think having some things given allowed me that freedom.I love about these old games how it lets you imagine certain situations... I always imagined the future being awfully cold and their first arrival there to be... quite challenging in that aspect. Especially for Marle, considering her normal clothes. So this is how I imagine the overworld treck at that time. I may try to do other one of these things, but I highly doubt it. Still! This is like the fifth pic in the fanart thing! HA! I'm so going to complete it by the time I finish my comic!
[link] <- In this sketchdump you can see the sketches and some color trials for this picture. I can't believe it myself that I actually prepared a picture!
Ehrm, if it's necessary that I say it, Chrono Trigger and all related stuff belongs to Square

haha so great. I can already see lucca playing the sweatshirt game while crono flails his hands wildly to try to get the player's attention now

That's a neat take on 2300 AD. Especially like the swirling snow.

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like the snow, I struggled a bit trying to figure out how to render the snow as it swirls across the screen in the overworld :3 . Thanks for the fave, too, by the way !

Very interesting idea. My only complaint is Lucca's mouth looks a bit weird.

Thanks ! I also forgot her glasses :S . It's been bugging me, so maybe I'll fix it soon. She's supposed to be gritting her teeth, but now you say it, it looks kind of weird, her mouth looks kinda dark lined, compared to the rest of the picture. Thanks for pointing it out

Yeah, me too ! It was one of the first ones I played and it really left a good mark. It was really fun and nostalgic getting to draw the characters as I always pictured them.

I remember that was my first SNES game I ever played.
I just loved the music. And for it's time the music and graphics were
impressive. The story got to me on some parts.
The characters are fun to draw. I love to draw Robo or Magus.^7^

Ooh! Robo scares me (I mean, to draw him... I have a hard time with well, robot like characters...). And I'd like to draw Magus sometime only because I imagine him quite awful and huge nosed and I love to draw huge nosed people .
And yeah, I remember loving the music, too. It was always wonderfully fitting. And the environments always impressed me so much. I had no idea how lovely the graphics were until I started playing other things.

I do too sometimes, but he is a just so
awesome looking.^^ I agree with you.
Oh yeah. The environments were beautiful...especially
in Antiquity Era...Oh that was the best to walk around the Zeal Palace.
And the music from the Antiquity Era is like my favorite.
There is someone on YouTube called naughtdog1376 who has all the music
of the game remastered....It's truly beautiful. Especially "Corridors of Time".
Yeah, even though 16-bit can get someone so far,the developers really knew how
to play with the color pallets and bring the word "beautiful" to new meaning. Well
that's what I think.

Yep, Zeal is just wonderful! I've been listening to the Chrono Symphonic one lately. The music of the game is nice by itself, but I appreciated not having to go back and change the theme all the time . Plus, they did a very nice job.

Now THIS is awesome. It is exactly how I've long-envisioned this part of the story unfolding. One of the best CML pics I've yet seen.

Hey, thanks a lot . I'm glad I was able to capture it for you. For me it was always one of the key moments of the game, so I really wanted to render it how it felt in my mind. I'm really happy you think that

This is exactly the kind of scene I imagined whenever I played this scene. It's so sad and forlorn. When I was young, a lot of things about this game used to scare me. This was one of those parts that just made me feel so sad! It's an excellent rendition of the future, so well done with the washed tones and sense of desperation in this picture.

Wow, thanks ! And yeah, I always imagined that part being so confusing and depressing...! It always felt to me as the moment when they really become a team, working together to find a way off all that madness only to find out what happened... and then decide to save the world. I'm glad the mood works. That's what I was trying to convey the most

Of course he is! It's hard to impress a girl being a mute! He has to be a gentleman . Plus, being in a kinda-snowstorm with an exposed neck must suck big time.

Yeah, I always wondered why the characters in RPGs wore the same clothes throughout the entire adventure...Screw logic, it's a video game!

Well, I guess changing the sprites too often wouldn't have been that easy... and maybe even annoying. Sprites have to say a lot of things in little space. It'd be hard to understand anything if they changed all the time, wouldn't it? But I think it does a good job at letting you imagine the more mundane side of the adventure. It's fun to do that, it makes you feel closer to the characters, I think.
