Continuation from 8-Bit Leading the Way (Open) Adoptable

The conflict in the Denebian system engages Star Command strike teams all over the sixth planet. While most pairs of marines find little to no opposition from the Hegemony, Commanders Megan McEndicott and Nadia Ionescu find they've bitten off more than they can chew with well over four dozen lizard warriors converging on their position.

"Look sharp, Meg," the XO tells me, squeezing off some rounds. The reptiles scatter like insects, scurrying away. "These lizards are sneaky."
"I remember the briefing," I say confidently, targeting and eliminating a pair of the lizzies with the laser bazooka. "They are not going to catch Mighty Megan asleep."
"I was only joking when I called you that," Nadia says. Misses. Again. Not like her.
"Were you?" I laugh back, firing again. "Scratch one more lizard. That's three to zero, Nad. And you couldn't keep your hands off me if I recall correctly."
