"Your're too slow.", said Ellie as the Julie she was training gasped, fell to her knees and clutched her midsection, her face reddening. "You should have seen that one coming." The Julie rolled onto her side, desperate for a breath, and summoning her will, she croaked "Yes, Miss Ellie!" Like all of her classmates, she was in awe of Miss Ellie and her fighting skills, and had more than a bit of a crush on their instructor. Ellie got down onto one knee and looked at Julie. "Did I hit you too hard? Anything broken?""Nope!" gasped Julie. "J-just winded! I'm OK!" Ellie knew better, she'd hit the young trainee way too hard. She had to remember to pull those punches, just a bit.
Daz 4.10 with iRay, nearly 3 hours this time, because I used the AtmoCam for that halo around Ellie's head. Hid a spotlight behind her, and another light to her left side. A tiny bit of post for levels and hair.

I agree with the right honourable JoeP:Β Ellie does look frustrated.Β This relieves me tremendously because she also don't look murderous!Β Somewhere under all those scars that have formed protectively over it, beats a heart.Β If anyone can reach Ellie it would be me.....or Julies!Β Their unwavering loyalty to friends and impossibly candid approach to life, allied with surprisingly capable and unstoppable enthusiasm seem to have dented Ellie's cold armour.
Blood red and so dangerous but this red grinch's heart three sizes bigger this day.Β Haha!Β Next she'll be carving the roast-beast herself!Β Eh?

Never ever underestimate Julies.
And suddenly this story explodes into a life of it's own.
You've painted these characters so well that they are like old friends almost.Β Well sure, they never talk to me, but still.Β Haha!

Yeah some find Julies impossible to bear; too overwhelming and chatty, always underfoot and relentlessly cheerful. Ellie might've felt that way too at first. But slowly, surely, they worked their magic on her-luckily she was not too far gone. Her brutality and ferocity, hammered into her through years of training, reinforced by the horrors she's endured, is slowly lessened.

A sharp eye'd Julie spots the pod and cares not for the ominous blinking lights.
"Hey Julies, help me figure out this space-fridge!Β I think there's beers in here!!"
And they're right.

Whoosh! Seventeen Julies with tools in hand appear, as if from nowhere...in a second they size up the huge cryo-unit, with it's frosty opaque windows and ice-encrusted metal tubing.
"Haw! Didju say beers? Get on it ladies! Gimme that wrench, I'm thirsty as hell!"

That's when the long dormant artificial intelligence that resides in this cryo pod, activates.Β Its reason to exist, the safety of the unseen occupant.Β Bits rush through it's nano-veins and cold harsh digital static snaps into sentient machine thought.
A thoughtful male voice intones suddenly, knocking a cloud of dust off the stiff speaker pods and triggering the Julies into that 'ready for anything' stance that only Julies have.
"Please state your intentions, young ladies......"
"My my.Β A BIG happy family you are.Β Such genetic similarity is unusual."
"Please state your intentions"
"Uhh Yah..Β Well, you gots a weird voice, whoever you are."
"We heard there's beers in here?"
"Help us out Haw?!"
