What I find the easiest to do is just drawing what you feel like drawing. I have a ton of refs I need to get done, but I only draw them when want to. They turn out a lot better and you have fun doing them too!
Flame and Opal are the ones that need refs the most but I still haven't done them lol

I sometimes do that with much larger projects (such as an animatic or ref sheets), but otherwise I can't really juggle multiple things at once
and yeah, plus the experience becomes a lot better, and you won't constantly scream every two seconds

I keep making/buying new characters, knowing fully that they'll probably never have a ref.
I can't go back and forth with larger projects, because I'll drop them entirely. If I can't get it done in a day then it probably isn't getting done. This is coming from someone who wants to be an animator.
But hey, I'm working on it. It helps having all of summer to do things too. I want to get atleast one animation done and start one of my comics
