Solkatt — First is still first MLP stamp

Description The first My Little Pony is still first in my heart, my mind and my line of inspirational colourful horses.

Might remake this a bit someday.
I feel like I need people to get this. Am I alone?

You are looking at this stamp "out of context"!
The idea is to use this on pictures and customs of/on first generation ponies and also "oc's" inspired by the first generation. Feel free to do the same - if you know the difference!

I kinda agree, the new fan base seem to have a lot of strange behaviors attached to them. (I have read a lot of things of which likeness I had never seen before among people who like colourful horses)

I still haven't watched the G3 movies D:
They where so expensive at first then they disappeared from the market it seems, forgetting all about getting cheaper first XD

Solkatt In reply to EllanEriksson [2012-08-19 11:37:41 +0000 UTC]

Haha, men ja!

XD

G1-G2 = LUVLUVLUV They never aired G3 and G3.5 in my country but we did get the toys which was slightly confusing XD Fim...Yeah I can watch it without trouble I like it even, but I don't understand why it gets so much spazz and love >> I don't like the style however I know it's from the same person who made Powerpuff girls but dang...why make mlp an anime wanabe? Some of the designs are cool mean I like Nightmare moon, Chrysiales spelling her name wrong like a boss XD that rather screamed little mermaid to me really XD but all and all G1 will always have a special spot in my heart <3

MJNSEIFER In reply to Primaltimediamond [2012-08-05 05:01:33 +0000 UTC]

It wasn't made by the same person who made Powerpuff Girls, nor is it trying to look anime (in in my mind it doesn't). It has its own style, and I personally think it looks cute (but I love every style of MLP). The reason it gets so much love is because it is (in my opinion at least) a well written show, and it takes all the best elements of previous MLPs and combines it with its own flair. In fact the real reason FIM is so popular is because it was inspired by G1.

Big eyes and big heads are often drawn for chibi's as well so perhaps that's why it looks like it's trying to copy anime to me, it's well written yes I agree. I know it was inspired by G1 i know some ponies were supposed to be ponies from G1, but I don't recall G1 being so loved as FIM. o.o

So sorry for saying this but....seriously? Have you ever heard of DRAWING STYLE?! Let's say someone draws a human realistically and someone else draws the human in a completely different, but still interesting way, so what that makes them a bad artist or so? NO ONE told Picasso or Dali 'DRAW LIKE DAVINCI!' or something familiar! So what! WE have the right to tell Lauren Faust to draw a human or pony in a different way! The PowerPuff Girls were a BIG hit and NO ONE complained saying "THEIR HEADS ARE LIEK TOO BIG!"
That was first, second- BAD animation is when the ANIMATION(NOT ART) isn't smooth, is frameless or outta order, NOT when the art is different from realism.
If you're going to comment about ART and ANIMATION, NOW YOUR CELESTIA DAMN IT FACTS!
Sorry, but I'm an artist, if you think this offensive then sorry, but it's an insult to the word ART if you comment something like that. ART is created to make people happy and not make our world a total desert. I even not long ago read about an artist whose works can be described as...pretty much something that children draw, even a little more abstract, but yet- they even made DOCUMENTARY about him! AND NOBODY complined about him drawing bullcrap.
Besides Lauren Faust(the creator aka ) got most things for FiM from G1(she was a fan of G1 when she was young and has always wanted to do an MLP cartoon)[link] and also said "They are first- horses, second- human.", which means they may move and look(even a bit) like horses, but they're human inside, same goes for G1, there aren't many differentces anyway, it's just that the torsos and muzzles of G4 ponies are smaller, nothing more.
Tch...And I thought G1 fans would be SMARTER than us bronies...but no, no matter WHAT generation we like we're ALL the same...

MJNSEIFER In reply to ErikaDaniel98 [2012-08-05 05:14:12 +0000 UTC]

Couldn't have said it better myself. I really hate it when fans (of either MLP generations) insult the style of each others generation, mostly because I love each style, but also because like you appreciate the fact that everyone has their own art style (I'm still finding mine, as I can't even draw yet). I especially hate it when they say that "these" ponies (whichever ponies they're talking about) don't look like ponies (they even say it about G1 which, are probably the most pony-like-ponies) when all MLP generations do.

The fact that FIM is made by a fan of past generations for fans of past generations (after being made for children - which we all seem to behave like half the time) makes it really stupid that we all feel the need to fight over which one is better, just enjoy the damn show!

Here's to all MLP fan finally uniting as one - that's how it should be. /]

ErikaDaniel98 In reply to MJNSEIFER [2012-08-05 14:30:28 +0000 UTC]

IKR?! I don't get it.
Neither shows are better. G4 is cliche, sometimes unrealistic, and pretty unoriginal. G1 is poorly characterized, has terrible voice acting and is often boring.
I don't get why they say that either of them is: better, pony look-alikes, has a better fandom.
In real life, horses have twice the length of the G1 ponies' muzzles and 1/2 of the same ponies' eyes' length, four-five times the length of the G4 ponies' muzzles and 1/4-5 of the same ponies' eyes' length. Not to mention that both G1 and G4 don't have realistic: legs(slim(real), rather fat(G1), fat(G4)), mane/tails(curtain-like(real), a bit human-like(G1), rather human-like(G4)), torsos(fat(real), slimmer(G1), rather slim(G4)), mane/tail and/or eye colour( eyes: pitch black/dark brown(real), sparkly not-even-human-like(G1), a bit human-like(G4); mane/tails: usually-black and/or human-like(real), not even human like/multicoloured(Both G1 and G4)).
I also don't get why the G1 fans say that they 'can't continue watching the new one until the fandom calms down'. DAFUQ WITH THE FANDOM?! So don't look at the comments, don't view fanart and/or fanfictions, I SERIOUSLY doubt that your inbox is filled with notes on how 'FUKKIN AWSUM!' FiM is 24/7 and/or that you see 1/2 of the dA page everyday being consumed by FiM art, 1/5 of which is porn, 2/5 is pony pairings, 1/5 is pony yuri/yaoi, and 1/5 is vectors.
And let's not forget that critique-wise(on which generation is better), the G4 fans are better, they dislike the Generation because it is either too girly, too terribly animated, consumed by terrible voice acting/song, too terribly characterized(Though I admit that I think Posey, Twilight and Firefly("G1's RD, Twi and Fluttershy") are WAY better characters than FS(= Mary Sue), Twilight Sparkle(G1 Twi is a lot more serious, which I most certainly prefer over TS's rather mischievous character) and Dash(She's rather arrogant lately).) or it's world isn't humanless, unlike mosta the G1 fans, who just go gaga about FiM's art style and fandom.

Yay! 8D

I love G1. Then again I love all generations!! XD Though, I do have to thank G4 for introducing me to the series. Two weeks after I got into that, I decided to check the previous generations. It took me not long at all to get into generations 1, 2 and 3. The it took me two months to finally start liking 3.5. XD I only got into FiM mid-July, then the older MLPs in mid-August (when I started collection). Now, after only 8 months of collecting, I have over 200 pony figures. About 30 are G1, 2 are G2, about 70 G3s (they're really common at thrift stores), 10 3.5s, and about 40 G4s. I think I'm addicted...

As for the which is the real MLP. They both all are, to be honest. G4 has taken things from all generations (except G2), and then mixed them with references to things adults would understand and other shows Faust worked on. It pretty much took character personalities from G1 (Twilight Sparkle-Twilight, Applejack-Applejack, Rainbow Dash-Firefly, Rarity-Sparkler, Fluttershy-Posey, Pinkie Pie-Surprise), then it took the slice of life from the late G1 (Tales), color schems from G3, and anime-ish tyle from 3.5.

And on the topic of this whole generation war/new vs. old. We all like the same franchise, let's just get along. I'm tired of seeing fans of the older series dissing FiM just because it's different from G1-G3. And I'm also tired of a lot of bronies saying 'Love and Tolerance' wen most can't even tolerate the older generations.

Sorry for the long comment, btw.

I grew up with G1, so I love G1. Then I like all gens (but I honestly dislike the "dolls" made in G3, because dolls have always scared me, and these where worse then human-look-alikes XD).
Sounds like once upon a time you were a rich person XD. I don't know how many I have of each, I don't dare to count XD, but if I count customs as well it might be something like 100+ of G1, around 50 of G2, maybe 10 of G3 (I had little money during their prime years) and around 20 of G4.

I know the origins and about their inspirations, to the extend of what I have read about it, that is. Just because the team who worked on G4 thinks something represents G1 or G1 characters it doesn't mean all of their "viewers" see it the same way. People catch on to different things. I'm not claiming "I am right", if I ever claimed "G1 is the real ponies" then I apologize, must have slipped related to some other purpose. Once again, all ponies made by Hasbro under their name "my little pony" are my little ponies to me. Also in the 80s when I (and at least some others) grew up shows didn't set the characters and feel of the ponies, I think most children set their own feel to them. Many of the shows for G1 where really rare in this country where I grew up. So even if they claim to be doing the same thing as they did in the 80s there still will be some people pretty untouched by Hasbros intentions. People will keep liking what they like for the reasons that brought them there

Yeah, it seems so strange! Sometimes it sounds like it's a religion and people have to fight for and defend it to the end. I don't get why some people like G1-G3 but don't like G4, that's a bit of a mystery to me. How the three first can pass as the same but not the last. But then again, I'm more toy-centered then show-centered, and that's probably the foundation with all the problems I get with this XD
