Following the hoard invasion, and the subsequent success of Thor’s Hammer, Sedi Federation fleet doctrine underwent radical reforms. Aside from heavy investment into particle acceleration technology and weaponization, military ships would become much well armed then previously. Before, military and law enforcement were nearly the same thing, after the war, however, they became two very separate things.

The Mars Model in particular would be almost completely redesigned. The fighter bay was completely removed and the bridge repositioned to make room for the final production model of Thor’s Hammer. Additionally, numerous weapons were added to the ship, turning it from a light carrier to a heavy assault ship. The sheer quantity of weaponry often overwhelms the Mars’ power generation, leading to the installation of large capacitors to keep the ship in the fight. Overall, the post-hoard Mars is a prime example of a growing philosophy in Federation fleet tactics, “If our targeting sensors can see the enemy through all the gunfire and missiles, then we simply aren’t shooting enough.”
