Description I was revisiting this [link]
X3 I hope I did well.

I didn't add any effects or shadow underneath him because I would like some help on making this better. Mainly the sword's perspective. It's as thin as a rapier but it's slightly in perspective.

Constructive Criticism please X3

*Patient Request*
To be honest, I have a hard time figuring out what I do wrong. I always know I did something wrong when I look at my pictures but I never know what I did wrong. I know I did something wrong on this one, but I can't tell...some please PLEASE help.

The only thing you did wrong is...there's no way you'd be able to draw a sword that long. (...right? 8-| )
Great work.

actually there is. the sheath has no back to it. The sword clicks into the stop of the sheath. when he draws it out, he will pull it out, then fling it over his shoulder. i need to draw the specs for that sword and the sheath and how they work exactly.
yea trust me, I thought the same thing and i had to sit down and design some stuff.

Sheating / Unsheating back swords bugs me for a while now. u_O
Look at classic Link for example : How the hell does he do?
There's no way : the sheath is more-than-a-arm long and is completely close. The only way in such a case would be a sword place at the waist.

Good idea for the back one. Looking forward for more pictures.

yea, most movies or games or shows you will see the "on the back" sword deal. unfortunately, most swords are too long to carry on your back. If you look at any of the 3D zelda games and watch the animations for when link draws his sword, the sword actually comes through the sheath. There are some swords out there that do not have whole sheaths: either it's just a holster or there is a piece or pieces missing.

The worst is the shields on backs. I did not draw his shield in this picture, because in this particular story that this picture is for he does not have his shield. However, the shield is bigger than he is and wider as well and it goes on his back. I knew that he could never pull that shield off his back accurately, but I also didn't want him constantly carrying it on his arm. So i have been designing some things for his shield that look promising and may be possible in reality. However, I am still unsure.

Yeah, Link always draw his sword through the sheath, even in Skyward Sword trailer (where it's obvious cause he does it so slowly). XD

I think the only way to get the shield from your back to your arm in one move, the shield would have to be either :
- placed upside-down, and you go get it with the inner part of your arm facing your back;
- reversed (patterns facing your back), and your arm goes get it just normaly, like Link does.

I still have to try though.

i thought of upside-down, but the way this shield is designed would make it look weird.

I was thinking about a handle on the top of the shield so he could reach over and pull it off, then strap it to his wrist when he can. There are still some slight problems with this, but I am still working it out.

Do you have some sort of shield to try it so?
If not, you can just take an old veener or prefinished wood board and put a belt on it with duct tape and/or screws/nails just to try.

Hmm...Try with a belt. You may need to pass it from your shoulder to a second belt - located at your waist - though.

it's smaller than a rapier but unbreakable. As for all the details and its origins, I can't tell you that yet. not until the manga X3

Hmm, I don't think so, The posework and sword, as well as the expression all look great to me. The shading is alright too, x3

But, if you think you can do some more work on it, then go for it. Who knows? Maybe you can make it even better, ^^

i'm trying to go for cel shading, but i'm more worried about anatomy atm. the shading will come with time.

Haha, yeah. I made the mistake awhile back of shading real well and not having good anatomy, xD!
