Not when you sand the entire gun first, then apply primer, and check it on a regular basis and repaint any wounds in the paint, no.

the shortened darts that I made for it reduce jamming. It still jams if the action is worked too fast.

any specifics? as you can see if you check my page, i'm involved in a good bit of nerf stuff, havn't gotten around to posting modded pics yet, and everyone i know avoids this gun like the plauge cause of the jamming problem, if there's a fix out there, i'd love to know more

The only trick to avoiding jams is to make sure that you fully complete the forward stroke of the lever. You have to keep going a little bit after you feel it cock, the rest of the forward stroke pops then next shell out of the magazine. If you don't complete the stroke, the shells can come out at an angle which causes all the jams. Shortened darts help because there's less to get caught if the shell comes out crooked.
