Description

“God’s Not Dead” is a 2014 live-action Christian drama film that shares the name of a song & album by “The Newsboys”.  The film was filmed during late 2012 and released in theatres on March 21st.

The story revolves around a young college student (portrayed by Shane Harper, “Good Luck Charlie”) named Josh Wheaton (Josh, Wheaton? That name sounds a little too familiar and rewrote around). Anyway, he is taking a philology class to get a degree. However, it is taught by an atheist professor named Jeffery Radisson (Christian actor Kevin Sorbo, “90s Hercules” work, “What If?...” and “Soul Surfer”). And it isn’t a bad thing that he is an atheist, but that he forces his students to sign a paper declaring that God doesn’t exist. Since Josh refuses to compromise his beliefs, Radisson offers him a chance to prove that God’s not dead. This risk could possibly damage his future. His off-screen parents and who else are concerned, and his angry girlfriend isn’t too happy about it. Over the course of the film, there are like a multitude of sub-plots. They at first seem unnecessary, but the film cleverly blends them together over the course of the picture.  One is about a Pastor Josh knows named Dave (David A. R. White) who, with his friend, plan to go to Disneyworld but their car stops working. A business and animal-rights journalist woman learns that she has cancer and will die soon. Her business man boyfriend, and his sister, both have a mother in mental elderly care. And a Muslim girl tries to hide her Christian faith from her family. another part of the main plot involves Josh’s Chinese PRC foreign exchange student friend “Martin”, who is struggling with his father as well as learning about Christ. The actors and actress’ pull off great performances with their characters. Josh, for example, is an everyday college Christian faced with hard dilemmas. As for Mr. Sorbo’s character, he is more of a force to be feared instead of someone who’s hated or loved to be hated. While, having some sympathy within his background.

As a Christian film, this feature features cameo appearances from Christian celebrities.  The “Newsboys” (Michael Tait, Jody Davis, Duncan Phillips, and Jeff Frankenstein) appear at the end during a concert, singing the song that the movie shares the name with of course. I am sad that Peter Fuller left before the movie was made, but it’s all alright. Plus, Michael’s excellent voice works much better with the song. Duck Commander Willie Robertson (along with his wife) appears once in the film, and Willie is on a screen during the concert. Sigh… even though I haven’t even seen an episode, I wonder..  WHAT IS WITH ALL THE DUCK DYNASTY BUZZ AND TRENDING? It’s a reality television show about a group of people firing at ducks….  And, members from the Duck family make appearances in multiple recent entertainment and places (e.g. last year’s “Merry-Larry”). However, I can’t fully complain, since they are a righteous family, and I should be glad that people would rather watch that instead of something like “Jersey Shore”… although I care as much for reality television as much as I do for some recent American decisions. Anyway, it would’ve been nice to see cameos from Phil Vischer, Willie Aames, Frank Peretti, and even the Duggar Family.

I really like that it (a live-action film in a modern age) has a PG-rating, although viewer discretion is needed.  Also, it would be nice to see some animated real-life dramas like this made. In conclusion, this 113 minute feature is a must-see for any Christian and non, leading anyone to Christ and strengthening faith of believers.

(Copyright) = Pure Flix Entertainment.

Art by /Noah, I’ll draw it because no one else will. Speaking of which, I forgot to talk about it. I made the focus around Josh and Radisson, although they were supposed to be bigger (so I put a cross there in the space). I did my best to get every important character and real-life person in this picture. And yes, I like to use my gifted drawing style. I hope you enjoy it.

That was a great movie!

I'll admit, Professor Raddison made me angry with how he mistreated Josh. But...well, it was wonderful that he got saved.

That movie was bad. I was talking to my friend's dad, who's a priest, and he hated the movie, saying it was too bigoted.

One, you are a horrible artist. Two, that movie was horrible. Three, god would have had to existed in the first place for hir to have died. So, to wrap up, you can’t draw, you can’t tell a good movie from a bad one, and you can’t tell fact from fiction, either.

#1 Yeah, this isn't my best picture, but it's better than my worst and I have much superior pictures. #2 Isn't it a free country? "Good" or "Bad" is in the eye of the beholder. "Super Mario Bros" is a great film, while the recent "My Little Pony" is a piece of rubbish. And #3, last time I checked, "Star Wars" never happened in reality (no matter how great the amazing Jar Jar Binks is). The Holocaust did happen, and George Washington was NOT gay. So, you can't accuse me of believing in delusion. And if you question my faith in God's existence, I can than to question your faith in the idea that there is no God.

ProfessorPsychopath In reply to SonicClone [2014-06-25 15:57:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Star Wars didn’t happen. Neither did anything in the bible.

Star Wars: Fiction.
Bible: Fiction.
Holocaust: Fact.
Jar Jar Binks sucked: Fact.

George Washington was not gay, but the sexuality of Abraham Lincon is up for debate.

Also, there is a difference between believing their is no God, and not believing in God. In one case, you are believing. In the other case, you are not.

The Bible is not fiction. It is fact! SonicClone is telling the truth, whether you like it or not. Also, quit offending him even though he is Christian, like me. You mess with him, you mess with me! You need to accept the fact the SonicClone is right about the Bible being a real-life thing. If not, you have dishonored and disrespected us Christians.

Absolutely nothing about the bible is fact! It’s a fairy tale. The fact that he is a Christian doesn’t grant him any special treatment. If you really want me to think the bible is true, you better give me some evidence.

Bible - Real
That fact about Jar Jar Binks holds no water...  JAR JAR BINKS IS AWESOME

Rather he was gay or not, Lincoln became a Christian before he was murdered.

Whatever you say, everything is belief. You seem to be putting faith in the fact that God doesn't exist, which isn't fact at all.

ProfessorPsychopath In reply to SonicClone [2014-06-28 08:42:04 +0000 UTC]

The bible is a book full of unfalsifiable hypotheses. Nothing about it is fact, as you cannot prove it or disprove it.
I can, however, prove that Jar Jar sucks: he was an obvious, and poor, replacement for Chewbacca, and is based of the stereotypical Jamaican, and thus racist.

I didn’t say Lincoln was gay, I said he might have been. And gay or not, murdered or natural death, he never maid it clear if he was Christian, though he did believe in a higher power that shaped the universe. It is possible that he wasn’t a theist or atheist, but deist, like George Washington and many of the other founding fathers.

No matter what YOU say, nothing is faith or belief. All we do is assume. I assume god isn’t real, you assume he is. If we have to assume reality itself is real, than we can only assume things about it.

Not that I disagree with you at all- if anything, you're definitely the superior mind in this argument against this petty, delusional ignoramus- but the Bible isn't entirely fictional. Despite some obvious myths that laden its pages, it does cover legitimate periods in ancient history, and has been the primary basis for many archaeological and historical expeditions. Even Jesus himself very most likely existed around his time, but the explanation behind his miracles remain unknown. I personally believe Mary's "virgin" birth was actually a result of artificial impregnation by advanced "celestial" beings visiting our planet at that time, and that Jesus' powers and miracles were of superhuman origin in his biological framework. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than that "son of God" crap, doesn't it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ProfessorPsychopath In reply to ChenTheIrken [2014-08-30 22:39:09 +0000 UTC]

No, it doesn’t. What really makes sense is that some girl cheated on her husband then lied about it. What makes even more sense is that the woman never even existed, and neither did her alleged son or his alleged father i.e. God.

ProfessorPsychopath In reply to ChenTheIrken [2014-09-01 07:42:18 +0000 UTC]

I didn’t. I just think it is demonstrably unlikely that aliens have ever made contact with humans. I mean, when was the last time you stopped to share the wonders of modern medicine with a worm? Because if an alien race is advanced enough for interstellar travel, they probably wouldn’t even recognize modern humans as an intelligent species and unworthy of their time, let alone ancient humans who thought the earth was flat and would have called a flashlight witchcraft. Humans are to aliens as worms are to humans: unintelligent pests that we step on for fun.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ProfessorPsychopath In reply to ChenTheIrken [2014-09-01 20:38:45 +0000 UTC]

The middle ground being that we both agree that aliens agree and have probably come by Earth during the course of Human history, and possibly interacted with us in some way. Whether that interaction influenced history or us in any way is debatable.

Yes, that is certainly true, but you gotta admit, there had to be some outside force to assist the labor that went into the Egyptian pyramids. Whatever it is, it certainly couldn't have been human labor and calculation alone, right? No way was humanity that advanced so long ago... I personally like to think it was aliens, but what it really could be, we don't know for sure.

Also, how am I supposed to think the world is going to end in 2012 if that year already came and went?? Not so all-logical now, are you, Mr. Spock?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ProfessorPsychopath In reply to ChenTheIrken [2014-09-03 06:31:04 +0000 UTC]

That was the point. People are always coming up with inane conspiracies that have no evidence to make them worth believing. World didn’t end in Y2K? Then it must be ending in 2012. No? Push it up again. It’s just the same thing over and over again. See, you aren’t on my side, you’re just like them, making arguments from ignorance; “we don’t know, therefor aliens”, is just as bad saying “we don’t know, therefor god”. People on my side want an actual, well substantiated and logical answer, not the convenient one.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChenTheIrken In reply to ProfessorPsychopath [2014-09-03 07:28:01 +0000 UTC]

I was just speculating that it could be aliens, for fuck's sake. Never once did I say aliens was the end-all be-all answer to everything. You just deliberately looked over what I said just so you could make yourself seem superior. And to a supporter of you... You really don't deserve any friends. There's a point in time when an over-worship of logic makes a man cold-hearted and disdainful of any fellow organic, and you've reached that point a long time ago. Good riddance, you soulless robot.
