Training Grounds entry for "Fear"

"AB! These Changeling's are after Beetle! Run as fast as yer hooves can carry ya and keep 'em away from 'im! I'll hold 'em off as long as I can!"

"B-but Appleja--"

"No buts, Applebloom! Just get 'im outta here!"

And that was when Beetle realized his greatest fear. It is not only when others are afraid or when the ponies he loves are in danger, but when they are scared and in danger because of him.

Well, here's my fifth Training Grounds entry for the %Ponies-For-Everypony thing. This one I came up with when remembering a scene I had in one of my own stories that I had in my head, the story that Beetle came to me in. Ya won't understand what I'm talking 'bout if I don't explain the story, so I'll start at the beginning where the story started.

What happens is Applejack discovered an orphan Changeling baby after a Changeling attack. Because of sympathy for the poor, innocent colt-- who may have been sent to the battle on accident because of his size and sickly state-- Applejack took him to her barn in secret and took care of him as long as she could before Fluttershy followed her into the barn. Applejack was lucky that it was Fluttershy who found the Changeling, who Applejack decided to name "Beetle" after his bug-like appearence, for the pegasus promised to help keep the secret but encouraged the farmer pony to at least tell the other girls about him. When she does, she was relieved that her friends responded in a positive way (only a little protest by Rainbow Dash because of her worries of Beetle attacking, of course, but nothing too serious). After that, Celestia is filled in by Twilight about Beetle, and soon after all of Ponyville knows of the Changling. Some revolt against him, but others theorized that if the Changeling wanted to attack, it would've already. Plus, Beetle's innocence and friendliness won him warm smiles and a few friendships, including the CMC.

What's going on here is that at some point in my story, Chrysalis finds out about Beetle's residence and demands his return. When Applejack and her friends stubbornly deny her demands, the Changeling Queen decided to attack Ponyville, trying to take Beetle by force. She and her army were eventually driven out by the Mane 6 and Celestia. Beyond that point the ending's a little foggy to me, but I'm leaning towards an ending where Celestia takes it upon herself to take Beetle to Canterlot to keep the small Ponyville safe from any further attacks. I dunno what the ending will be like yet, though. We'll see.

So yea, that's the basic story behind this. X3 If ya'all enjoy it, then maybe I can write the story in the future or do it in comic or animated form. That will be a project for later on, though; currently I have a little too much on my plate.

I believe that's all I gotta say about this besides I used ~Kecky 's brushes again for shading. Eh, it was somewhat rushed, but it works.

I'll soon be doing a more Halloween pic to celebrate the season-- I've been too distracted to do it beforehand-- and to make up for tardiness, I will include a very special surprise with it.
